Bio
Kris Ellestad is a prolific and innovative Albertan singer-songwriter who uses the acoustic aesthetic of the folk idiom as a vehicle to explore a broader musical palette. His inventive melodies, intricate fretwork and powerful, versatile voice have garnered him praise from music critics and bloggers across North America and throughout Europe. He was recently listed as one of Aux magazine's "11 unconventional Canadian singer-songwriters you need to hear."
In 2008 Ellestad shared the stage with acts as diverse as Grizzly Bear, Woodpigeon, Azeda Booth and celebrated art-rock band Women. Following the release of 2011's acclaimed "No Man is Land," he toured eastern Canada and performed with some of its finest young musicians including BRAIDS, Jennifer Castle, and City and Colour.
His music has regularly made Top 30 lists of radio stations across Canada including Alberta's CKUA, CJSW, CJSR and CXKU, and has been a recurring feature on the CBC's "Key of A" program.
Slated for release in 2015, Ellestad is currently completing work on his next full-length album "Faebles" and plans to tour North America and Europe in support of the record in the following spring.
