"Kris James to release new single ‘Anymore’ next month"

Following on from the success of his debut solo single ‘Eyes Open’, singer-songwriter Kris James is busy preparing for the release of his new single ‘Anymore’.

Self-penned by Kris, the highly anticipated ‘Anymore’ will be unveiled to the world on November 9. The track has been produced by Tom Fuller, best known for his work with Robbie Williams and David Guetta, and incorporates an 80’s inspired electro sound which is different from anything that Kris has released in the past.

Speaking about the track, Kris said: “This is a completely new sound for me, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it. The inspiration of the track is about escaping the rat race of life for a week in the sunshine with the person you love.”

Kris recently shared a Q&A video on Twitter in which he talks about ‘Anymore’, his musical influences and more. If you listen closely, you’ll hear a taster of the track in question.

We’ve had a sneaky listen to the track already and we can confirm that you’re indeed in for a treat. ‘Anymore’ has such a cool vibe to it and we guarantee you’ll be singing the chorus for days. We can also expect remixes of the song from the likes of WideBoyz and Steve Smart, which will add an extra dimension to the track.

‘Anymore’ follows on from Kris’ incredible debut single ‘Eyes Open’, a hopeful guitar-driven anthem which highlights someone in a bad situation coming to a realisation of truth, allowing them to walk away from someone who is causing them pain.

‘Anymore’ is available to pre-order on iTunes and pre-save on Spotify now. The track will be released on November 9. - Celebmix

"Kris James releases electric new single ‘Anymore’"

Singer-songwriter Kris James has released his electric second single, ‘Anymore’.

Self-penned by Kris and produced by Tom Fuller (Robbie Williams, David Guetta), ‘Anymore’ is a brooding anthem which sees the singer yearning for another “day out in the sunshine” or “night under the moon”, allowing him to get away from the stresses of day to day life.

The track begins with a thumping beat which captivates the listener immediately, before leading into the hypnotic pre-chorus which sees Kris plotting an escape from the humdrum of daily life with a loved one.

‘Anymore’ is laced with an irresistible 80’s electro groove throughout, an experimental choice which is different to what we’ve previously heard from Kris. Despite a busy production, the track also allows Kris’ smooth vocals to shine from start to finish.

Speaking about the track, Kris said: “This is a completely new sound for me, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it. The inspiration of the track is about escaping the rat race of life for a week in the sunshine with the person you love.”

‘Anymore’ follows on from Kris’ debut solo single ‘Eyes Open’, which has garnered over 330,000 streams on Spotify. The track, which discusses breaking free from being in an abusive relationship, was the perfect debut release to kickstart Kris’ solo career, whilst ‘Anymore’ further cements that he is certainly one to watch in the industry. - Celebmix

"Kris James releases debut solo single ‘Eyes Open’"

Kris James has released his anthemic debut solo single, ‘Eyes Open’.

Produced by John Fields, ‘Eyes Open’ is a hopeful guitar-driven anthem which highlights someone in a bad situation coming to a realisation of truth, allowing them to walk away from someone who is causing them pain. The track hooks you in immediately thanks to the infectious melody, before Kris’ captivating vocals kick in.

But I know I’ve got to leave you now
But I’m not gonna be without, yeah
Cause I’ve got my eyes open, wide open now

Speaking about the track with The Sun, Kris said: “The song is about a bad break up, it’s an abusive relationship where you’re told you’re nothing. Then you remember your true colours. The message is that once your eyes are opened to it, you realise you will be alright on your own. And you will be better for it.”

We can expect a powerful music video for ‘Eyes Open’ very soon. Kris has been teasing a short clip of the video online, and speaking to The Sun he revealed that the video will highlight emotional abuse experienced by men.

“Any abuse is absolutely disgusting. But for the video I wanted to look at men being abused by their girlfriends. Some girls have ripped my best mates apart and it’s time to do something about it,” Kris said. “I want to highlight that emotional abuse. There have been so many stories about men taking their own lives because of abuse from their loved ones but we have realise it does happen.”

Kris is best known for being a member of The Scheme, who disbanded last year. During their time together, they band released an EP called Jerome Heights and toured with the likes of The Tide, Union J, Lemar and Ryan Lawrie.

Here at CelebMix, we can’t wait to follow Kris on his exciting new journey and wish him all the success as he ventures out as a soloist. - Celebmix

"PREMIERE: KRIS JAMES – “EYES OPEN”"

Dropping his debut music video today, Kris James has been in the music biz for a long time. First starting out at 19, his musical journey has had many twists and turns – including a 50s-influenced boy band (we’re intrigued too). But now he’s finally stepping out on his own with his first solo material for years, and it’s about time too.

Releasing “Eyes Open”, James is showing that he’s not afraid to tackle difficult issues. Packaged in an undeniable bop, it’s the perfect first step towards getting into the spotlight where he belongs.

We sat down with him to chat all about the debut song and what we can expect next.

Hi Kris – how are you?
I’m good, thanks. I’m currently on my radio tour up and down the country, so it’s actually quite nice to sit down for five minutes!

You’re about to drop the video for “Eyes Open” – how are you feeling?
I’m super excited to share the video. Last week, I had my launch party in London and this was the first time I’ve performed as a solo artist in years. After so many months of preparation, I’m just so excited it’s finally here.

Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind the song?
It was inspired by an abusive relationship. We’ve all had a relationship where someone has been a bit nasty, but the song is about when you realise that they’re not good for you. Now you’ve seen their true colours, you’re much better off without them.

What do you want people to take away from the video?
There have been so many stories about men taking their own lives because of abuse by their loved ones, and I want to raise awareness for this.

Obviously this is your first song and video… How long have you been working on music for?
When I was 19, I met with the music management company in Liverpool who set up Atomic Kitten and Blue many years ago. Then I was signed to a 50s-influenced boy band – I was in that band for 2 and a half years, and even supported Annie Lennox. Unfortunately, that collapsed and so I went back to Liverpool to continue singing and writing my own music. The next thing I know, my friend is calling me from a bar and he was sat next to the CEO of the record label that I’m now signed to. My friend must have showed him my music and then the CEO checked me out online. They told me they didn’t have any projects that I’d currently fit in to, but what they did offer me was a studio in Kings Cross to record and some of the best music writers in the world. And that is how I was part of my last band that I was with for almost 5 years.

Who would you say are your main inspirations for music?
Ryan Tedder from One Republic and Chris Martin from Coldplay.

What else have you got in store for us this year?
I am following up “Eyes Open” with a second single in the first part of 2019, and I will be launching my debut album. The songs from my debut album have been partially written over the past 7 years with one of my closest friends, Stewart. After the band split, I quickly completed the record and it’s coming up to a decade of songwriting. The album will feature and array of classic songwriting about the highs and lows of loving life. - Wonderland Magazine

"FRESH START Kris James launches solo single Eyes Open and says he took inspiration from previous bad relationships"

His first solo offering sees Kris tackling the issue of abuse in relationships and admitted watching his friends getting ‘ripped apart’ by their partners is part of the story.

KRIS James has launched his first solo single Eyes Open which was inspired by past bad relationships.

The song’s music video shines a light on the issue of emotional abuse against men in relationships, with Kris telling The Sun Online he wanted to tackle the issue head on.

Speaking to us at the launch of his single in London, Kris said: “The song is about a bad break up, it’s an abusive relationship where you’re told you’re nothing.

“Then you remember your true colours. The message is that once your eyes are opened to it, you realise you will be alright on your own. And you will be better for it.

“Any abuse is absolutely disgusting. But for the video I wanted to look at men being abused by their girlfriends. Some girls have ripped by best mates apart and it’s time to do something about it.

“I want to highlight that emotional abuse. There have been so many stories about men taking their own lives because of abuse from their loved ones but we have realise it does happen.”

Kris went solo after his band The Scheme split. Although they’re not on speaking terms, Kris says their relationship is still professional.

Eyes Open is a track who wrote with his former bandmates Kyle Carpenter and Aleksey Lopez and Kris said he had their blessing.

He added: “I worked with a producer called John Fields who did Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato…we went to the US and worked on it in Michael Jackson’s original recording studio.

“It felt strange doing everyone alone rather than in a group. In a trio we used to do our individual parts and now I do everything. - The Sun
