Five years ago, Kris and her husband, Dru, decided to quit their jobs and officially enter the world of starving artists… I mean professional musicians.
They opened a recording studio, and Kris became a Worship Director for a friend and Pastor who was starting a new church.
Against many odds (and through many miracles) they survived and have been able to continue in ministry even without "regular" jobs and with three children! God has always been good, and they have seen first-hand how faithful He can be during tough situations.
While growing up in the Lutheran church and attending Lutheran schools, church was always an important part of Kris' family life. But it was never something she understood on a personal, relational level. The launching of Searchlight Ministries (where Kris currently leads worship) in 2001 was a huge turning point in her spiritual life. Through a lot of prayer and worship, God opened many doors and brought her into a place where His Holy Spirit could break down all the pre-conceived notions of what their relationship should be. Since then, worship has taken on new levels of joy, tears, pain, revival, renewal, celebration, and awe.
Kris lives in Yorba Linda, California, with her husband and three boys Chet, Caleb and Caden (ages 9, 6, and 3). She works for Searchlight Ministries Church in Fullerton, directs two vocal groups at Concordia University in Irvine, teaches music at St. John's elementary school, and hires out for various speaking and singing engagements throughout the year.
