Grey Days

Written By: Kris Kingwell

I don’t like these grey days
Any more than you do
Maybe we missed our hay day
But it’s just you who
Couldn’t face another day
Couldn’t see another way

Maybe we could’ve found
A reason to stay
Just one more day.
And I would’ve said
“It’s just a season”
I would’ve said
“This too shall pass,
These testing times
Won’t stand the test of time,
If you could just hold on,
If you could just hold on.”
If you could just hold on,
I would’ve said
“To thyself,
To thyself be true.”

I wish I’d had the heart to
Follow through and see you,
Ask to sit beside you,
Search for hope to cling to.
Try and face another day,
Try and see another way.

Maybe we could’ve found
A reason to stay
Just one more day.
Well I would’ve said
“It’s just a season”
I would’ve said
“This too shall pass,
These testing times
Won’t stand the test of time,
If you could just hold on,
If you could just hold on.”
If you could just hold on,
I would’ve said
“To thyself,
To thyself be true.”

I would’ve said
“It’s just a season.”
And I would’ve said
“This too shall pass,
These testing times
Won’t stand the test of time.”
We’ll just hold on tight
In the hope we might
Keep a part of you,
We were the blessed few.
We will just hold on,
We will just hold on.
We will just hold on
To your memory.
We’ll be true,
To your memory be true.

High Road

Written By: Kris Kingwell

I took the low road,
You’ll take the high road.
You’ll see the world through different eyes.
Show him you’ll follow,
Show them you’ll lead,
Give them a hope,
Give them a reason to believe.

May there be freedom,
May there be love,
And peace, and joy, and faith,
And songs and harmony.

Over the mountaintops you’ll fly.
I was in over my head,
You’ve got your feet on the ground.
You’re watching the Son,
You’ve seen how hard the road is to run.
Follow my lead but take a different path
And meet me beyond.

Show them here’s healing,
Show them the way.
Be their hope,
Be their reason to believe.

May there be wisdom,
May there be grace
And peace, and joy, and faith,
And songs, and harmony.

Over the mountaintops you’ll fly.
I was in over my head,
You’ve got your feet on the ground.
You’re watching the Son,
You’ve seen how hard the road is to run.

You’ve got the truth in your heart,
You wear your heart on your hand.
You bring us His love,
You help us see the world from above.
You’ll finish the race,
You’ll seek the face of God
And meet me beyond.

Fallen

Written By: Kris Kingwell

I could’ve changed the world
I could’ve made a difference
I could’ve built something big
A movement, and empire, a name
I could’ve had those dreams of fame

But I fell short
When life fell apart
Please believe that I could’ve been amazing

I started life like a cannonball,
Sweet 16 I hit the wall.
I could’ve made the grade,
Held the torch, led the pack, made you proud
but fraudulent joy became my shroud.

But I found pain
And brought you shame
But this pill tells me I can still be amazing

And it isn’t fair
And I’m still four years old screaming...

I fell short
When life fell apart
Please believe that I can still be amazing.
And its this pill,
Of which you speak so ill,
That’s brought me life again,
Helped me feel,
Filled my cup,
Granted rest,
Turned my face to the light,
I am blessed, I am blessed.
And I’ll fall short again,
Life will fall apart.
Please believe me when I say
I will still be amazing.
