One of the world’s most exciting emerging artists, Kris Monico has arrived! This international singer, songwriter, producer and director is writing and recording songs that make us get up and dance mixing Electro-Dubstep, Pop, and Rap to create a sound as unique as he is…Dirty-Pop!
Born in Nanaimo, B.C., Kris Monico realized his love for music at a very early age. He began playing piano/keyboards at age 5; winning 3 first place trophies in the "Technics Compatition" for music and one 4th place in music composition all by the age of 13 and progressing to writing and recording music at 16.
His singing career started before that, as a toddler, singing nursery rhymes. Kris would sing and perform for anyone who would listen, for example; on a visit to Minter Gardens in Agazzis, B.C. he befriended the performer who was singing there for the day and managed to get a few of his own numbers in!
Another favorite performance spot was his own driveway, the neighbors said that he would sing something and that song would stay in their head for the day.
His passion for music has only increased with each passing year, and, now in his 20's, Kris is ready to make his mark. Having already opened shows for the likes of JRDN, Danny Fernandes, Too $hort, Fat Joe, Moka Only, The TITANS, Romeo and much more!
After moving to Toronto, Kris now has his sights firmly set on the release of his debut album entitled, "Dirty-Pop", which is creatively titled after Kris stumbled on a new sub-genre of Pop music.
Kris is looking to build on the success of his first single "Your Love", a song which earned him Best of BC honors on Virgin Radio Vancouver in August 2009.....and he did!!!! Creating the SMASH hit single "SHE LOVES ME" which saw over 80,000 downloads in its first week and a follow-up single "I GOT U" which has also done just as well.
