“Because He Lives” Krista Alston from Golgotha CD Keep On Keepin’ On
2005 www.kristaalston.com

Chicagoan Krista Alston’s superbly produced debut CD Keep On Keepin’ On combines her Aretha-inspired vocals with bouncy, infectious beats and simple, singable songs.

However, what captured my attention was her performance of Gloria Gaither’s “Because He Lives.” Accompanying herself on electric keyboard, Krista turns the contemporary Christian song into a church-wrecker as she stretches her vocals to the limit, demonstrating what she has learned performing with gospel greats such as Inez Andrews and Albertina Walker. Krista applies the same classic vocal/piano arrangement to “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” but “Because He Lives” is the better of the two by a slim margin.

Producer Richard Gibbs and engineer Maurice Houston are to be commended for doing an excellent job making this independent production sound like a major label offering in its consistent depth and clarity.

"Krista's Album Is Great!"

I don't normally do this but I just wanted to reach out and give you some feedback on your album that I bought from CD Baby. "To everyone who said Krista what are you doing?" What you have done is recorded a wonderful album. You are Krista Alston of course but I hear Aretha Franklin in your voice on every track. The production and the songs are so good. I buy an awful lot of music and focus on brand new music but 'Keepin On' is one of the best albums I've heard so far this year.
