Bio

 Saskatoon-born
with a style best described as Celtic influenced folk-pop, Kristan
Couture's debut
album, You
Just Fooled Me,

showcases her talent as both a violinist and a singer-songwriter.
Her band highlights vocals, violin, guitar and accordion with a strong underlying rhythm section.  Their performances are both upbeat and sweet/vulnerable and have been continuing to capture new listeners with their completely unique sound.

While training in Classical violin and piano, Kristan developed a love for playing Celtic and Country fiddle.  She then learned to play
guitar, mandolin, and sing. She began songwriting as a child,
building up a library of hundreds of songs, and recently returned from Nashville where she wrote with Industry songwriters (and continues to) to further her songwriting techniques.  The acoustic album
features
twelve of her best, layered with guitars, violin/fiddle and
harmonies. The sad and sweet tone of her songwriting showcases
her love of the raw, colourful tones of fingerstyle guitar. Kristan's
passion for songwriting and musicianship are sure to make You
Just Fooled Me

an album to watch in 2016. Self-recorded, it was mixed by
multi-award-winning Saskatchewan producer, Bart McKay, whom Kristan is also privileged to call one of her band members (among other talented SK session players). The album was released in April, 2016.

Kristan and her band recently opened for the likes of Jon Bryant and Colter Wall.  Over
the last few years, she's made a name for herself touring with the
Scott Richmond Band, travelling to Kansas City for Folk Alliance
International and Colombia. In the summer of 2015, she embarked on
the cross-country Prairie Gentlemen tour with Danny Olliver and
Colter Wall, enjoying the legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, as
well as the Ness Creek and Gateway Festivals. It was a busy summer
for her, as she also shared the stage as a fiddle player with the
UK-based folk-pop Bears Den at the Edmonton Folk Festival.  She will be sharing the stage as a violinist with Saskatoon's Elly Thorn as they open for Jesse Cook at this year's Saskatoon Jazz Festival.
