"From Ya'll to Yinz"

Why, you may ask, is a Mississippi raised, Nashville living country singer spending the winter months in, of all places, the northern climes of Pittsburgh during our harshest of seasons?
"Well," says Kristan Preble. "Pittsburgh is such a beautiful big city that has the same feel as a small southern town. I wanted to branch out to a new place, build a bigger fan base and explore the opportunities that would present. Unlike other northern cities, country music is embraced here in Pittsburgh, and it’s a great feeling to have people outside of Mississippi and Nashville support my music."
Signed to a major label record deal in 2005 as a sophomore in college, I expected the raven haired Preble to put on a good show. That sentiment lasted about twenty seconds into her first song as I, along with the standing room only crowd in attendance at Geno's Restaurant in Lawrenceville, quickly realized she isn't just a good country singer. Kristan Preble is a superb country artist.
With her soaring, but soothingly addictive vocals, flowing melodies and spot on guitar work, she had Geno's rocking country style. Preble truly has a voice all her own. The closest to describing it would be a sort of hodgepodge genetic hybrid mixture of a young Patty Loveless with the fluidity of JoDee Messina and the powerful vocals of Bonnie Raitt all rolled into one bubbling bundle of pure upbeat folksy country charm.
Backed by the excellent play of Pittsburgh's own Bobby Rey on steel guitar and Mark Linville on electric, the self taught acoustic guitar playing Preble launched into a mammoth four set, thirty-six song marathon consisting of original material sprinkled with a few covers ranging from Sheryl Crow to Allison Krauss and Carrie Underwood. With her take on many of them, including Sugarland's "Stay" being, dare I say, absolutely superior to the originals. After listening to this unique southern songstress, its no wonder some of Nashville's biggest and hottest songwriters such as Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo and Hillary Lindsey have jumped at the chance to work with her and co-write many of the tunes on her latest work.
Along with enchanting the audience with her down home southern hospitality between songs, it seems Kristan has been well indoctrinated in the fine art of Pittsburghese. She related a story of how she called home to Mississippi and talked to her aunt. During the conversation, Kristan let fly a "yinz". Her aunt had no clue what she said. She thought she called her a name. Later in the show, she even led the crowd in an improptu "Here we go Penguins" chant.
So Pittsburgh, hear her while you can. For Kristan Preble's country star is rising. And, it won't be long before she is back to the big sights, sounds and lights of that country mecca known as Nashville and we only see her once every three or four years during a tour stop. But, consider ourselves lucky, Kristan Preble is officially an adopted Pittsburgher having graduated from Y'all to Yinz and loving every minute of it.

Bio

Kristan Preble began her singing career at the ripe old age of five at a Hee Haw themed family reunion. Since then, there has been no looking back for this beautiful, smooth and soulfully voiced, Florida born, Brandon, Mississippi-raised singer/songwriter.

A naturally gifted lyricist and self taught acoustic guitar player, her songs ebb and flow with the lyrical meanderings and melodic stylings of a young Bonnie Raitt with a sprinkle of Patty Loveless, two of Kristan's biggest musical influences.

Kristan honed her musical skills in church as a child and began singing around Mississippi by the age of 15. While performing at some of the most popular venues around her hometown, Kristan began her love of songwriting.

Kristan was discovered by manager Joe Carter in 2005. As a sophomore in college, Kristan was signed to a Demo Deal by RCA Records. She spent that year co-writing with some of Nashville's top songwriters such as, Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, and Hillary Lindsey.

Kristan's song "Like Blue Goes" was recently featured in an Emmy Award Winning web-series, Venice.

Look for Kristan's upcoming ablum release and tour set for Summer of 2012.
