"Krista Papista - Pomoiselle Review"

Krista Papista is an electronic musician / producer / artist based in London. The Cypriot / Australian has been producing her own material since the age of 13. Her main influences are: Elvis, Bowie, Chet Baker and Carl Jung.Krista’s music is characterized by soulful vocals that are accompanied by penetrating rhythms, cinematic sounds and texts that are fed with raw sarcasm and contradictions. Papista describes her distinctive sound as “Sordid Pop”.

We had a listen to Pomoiselle and here’s what we thought:

Sharp and sardonic ‘Pomoiselle’ is a thorny cactoid of a song.

It’s as ferocious and as biting as a throng of razor toothed piranhas. In amongst the pips and tucks, the spoken lamentation is as black as over-frothed mascara and about as dull as a biscuit water.

It will probably get some play at artsy fashion shows and doomy night-clubs. But this dark moth will never emerge fully formed from the fanciful buried cocooning. - Raw Ramp Music Magazine

"Remix From Krista Papista And Freak Magnet Jimmy Edgar"

Jimmy Edgar is not content to be mundane. One glance at his bio reveals this clearly: “Lover. Fighter. Prophet. Freak magnet. Time-traveler. Musician, Photographer and Designer, Jimmy Edgar is a wayward star-child streaking across the cosmic dance-floor. Endowed with a supernatural feel for futuristic funk, the Detroit native has been bleeping and grinding about the Milky Way since he was a teenage humanoid. While his peers were worrying about their grades and popularity, Edgar was spinning alongside his hometown's DJ heroes and programming intricate beats that were unquestionably interplanetary communication disguised as dance music.”

This little alien has put out records on Hotflush, Get Physical, Gruuv and more, and now he’s ready to rock your world with a free remix of Krista Papista’s “Dirty Boy Dancer.” Krista Papista is a performer based in London. Each of her projects comprise "recurring themes of mixed observations, that revolve around mounting feelings of paranoia, pleasures still untasted, invisible designs." - Pulse Radio

"Krista Papista - 'Dirty Boy Dancer'"

Krista Papista is back, and we're excited to unveil the new video for her single 'Dirty Boy Dancer'; it's out today, and has a striking clip to go along with it, which you can check out above.

Paprista has an interesting lineage: she's got Australian and Cypriot blood, and lives in London, so she's certainly been around, and she's been influenced by everyone from The Knife to John Cage. The song itself is pleasingly minimalistic, featuring a thudding beat and a frail-sounding piano melody, which both go extremely well with Papista's cutting lyrics, as she address her titular lover with cutting lines and the hint of snarl lurking beneath her impressive voice. When paired with the video, it helps to create a very nice package indeed. We hope you like it as much as we do. - The 405
