“Kristeen’s heavy piano/bass/drums informed rock is obnoxious and just plain good.” – YOURfLESh Quarterly

Bio

Kristeen Young writes rock music on piano. It’s not goth/industrial slick. It’s not middle of the road nothing. It’s dissonant/energetic/adventurous-but-all-within-a-verse/chorus- context rock. There might be a languid moment, but it’s always surrounded by brashness. When was the last time you heard this type of music via piano?

Originally from St. Louis, MO., Kristeen now resides in New York City where she recorded her latest album, "X" (the roman numeral for "10", not the letter ‘X"), in early 2004. "X" was produced by Tony Visconti (Bowie, T.Rex), and includes a duet with Brian Molko of Placebo. It is a concept record (yes, concept record!) based on the Ten Commandments. Each song addresses a different commandment, but with an argument as to why it might be a good, or even fun, idea to break that commandment.

Her previous CD, "Breasticles" (2003), was also produced by Tony Visconti, and includes a duet with David Bowie.

Throughout 2003, Kristeen toured solo throughout Europe, including opening for Frank Black. Presently, she performs live with just her piano/keyboard and bombastic drummer, Jeff White. With the piano being played in an effected riff-oriented manner, just like a guitar, the sound is definitely rock. With Kristeen’s intense and unique presence, and distinctively flexible voice, it’s definitely rock for the 21st Century.

Kristeen Young has a formidable, worldwide following (d.i.y. built), and a REAL web presence. Feel free to google her at any time.
