"Look up chanteuse, and you just might find Kristen’s picture"

"Look up chanteuse, and you just might find Kristen’s picture. She has a fluid, beautiful, melodic voice, with shades of Peggy Lee in some of her phrasing. Her vocals are a seduction soundtrack, or perhaps a bubble bath with candles and champagne." - Music News Nashville

"... quite a good entertainer"

“Kristen is a young lady who has a soulful voice and is quite a good entertainer.” - Brad Stauffer of the Tennessee Jazz Orchestra

"...vocals that are as sweet as she looks."

“Cothron’s avant garde jazz rhythms show off her mature vocals that are as sweet as she looks. In fact, to me shades of Billie Holiday come to mind… Excellent arrangements, wonderful lyrics....” - The Nashville Music Guide

"Silky smooth..."

"Silky smooth describes Kristen Cothron's vocals ... magnificent, refreshing music that will appeal to any listener." - Madalyn Sklar of GoGirlsMusic.com

"This is one 'dame' you wouldn;t mind walking in to your gin joint!""

"This is one 'dame' you wouldn;t mind walking in to your gin joint!" - BluesBunny.com

"...her relaxed, come-hither purr pulls listeners in..."

"With an amber, sultry tone and an expanded vocal range that she uses with dynamic subtlety, Cothron applies late-night jazz chops to contemporary adult pop. She's the rare young talent who cares more about expressing a mood and a story than simply showing off her voice. While her relaxed, come-hither purr pulls listeners in, it's the depth of the songs and how well she puts them across that brings people back time and again.” - - The Nashville Scene

Bio

Look up chanteuse, and you just might find Kristen's picture. The Nashville Scene says, “She's the rare young talent who cares more about expressing a mood and a story than simply showing off her voice. While her relaxed, come-hither purr pulls listeners in, it's the depth of the songs and how well she puts them across that brings people back time and again.” Although young by measure of years, she emits the soul of a veteran musician through her music, lyrics, and performance.

Kristen began singing and performing at the age of six, playing the guitar at age nine, and writing lyrics and music at age thirteen. She’s had 12 years of vocal training, studying both privately and also with the Nashville Jazz Workshop and at Berklee College of Music. She spent her high school years performing around Nashville both solo andwith local jazz groups such as The Tennessee Jazz Orchestra and The Southern Fly-By-Night Singers. At 16 she received a scholarship to the Berklee Summer Program as well as a World Tour Scholarship to attend Berklee College Music the following year.

Currently residing in her home town, Nashville, TN, Kristen isactively pursuing her musical career. She‘s been touring regionally in support of her original release, “Love Letters from a Fool.” While she’s always incorporated her jazz influences and training in her original music, her latest Jazz EP release delves more deeply into a straight ahead jazz sound with tunes by the likes of Cole Porter, Chet Baker and Nina Simone. Whether she's singing a jazz standard, a classic soul tune, or one of her eclectic original songs - Kristen's sound is undeniably her own.
