Biography

Krister Axel has been writing and performing roots and blues music for 20 years, making his way from Paris to Los Angeles. In the end of 1999, Krister began to put his electric piano and his accordion to good use with a number of local and international artists.
Krister Axel has a unique style of singing, described by fans as a sort of Bill Withers meets Jamiroquai. He is a self-taught musician who started on the piano and eventually discovered the acoustic guitar.
Krister Axel claims Chris Whitley as the greatest influence on his writing.

Laurence Tolhurst (drummer for the Cure 1976-1989) said after seeing Krister perform - [Krister Axel] sounds like a young Elvis Costello. - Oct 25, 2005

Lyrics

All That Lifts You Up

Written By: Krister Axel

you look good up there
with the lights on your face
I saw someone
better than this place
I sing your praises
from the rooftops baby
give me one more chance

even if tomorrow comes
I'll be around
to prop you up
when you come down
when you come down
when all that lifts you up
lets you down

it's like we were never young
sometimes the strings get cold
but you just get better
the more that you get old
so save me the last kiss
and we'll never let it go
we'll just be here
standing by the road
with all this time

even if tomorrow comes
I'll be around
to prop you up
when you come down
when you come down
when all that lifts you up
lets you down

I've never been this way before
I never wanted someone more

Holland Park Road

Written By: Krister Axel

I don't know what's missing
but I'll see if I can find it
climbing up the hill
it starts to rain
I still feel like walking
Because I'm not so good with talking
And I just ran out
of pretty things to say
I'm thinking of the city
with it's arms around the river
with no end and no beginning
like a chain of stars
It's trying to tell me something
about the light between two lovers
the light that's on your face
all you have to do
shine on for me
if you can't afford to sleep
I'll be the push that brings you back
it's Saturday
and there's something in the air
I don't believe that we are lost
I don't believe that we are lost
honey keep them coming
because I'm drinking through the morning
I have a million miles to go
inside my head
I hear a voice that's calling
from the other side of the ocean
I swear I left my heart
in her Venice bed

shine on for me
if you can't afford to sleep
I'll be the push that brings you back
it's Saturday
and there's something in the air
I don't believe that we are lost
I don't believe that we are lost
I don't believe
