Bio

I've never recorded in a real studio. These songs were recorded in my parent's garage or at a coffee house in 2005.

I was 25 (back in 2002) when I started taking group guitar lessons with about 6 or 7 other women in a basement in Somerville. After a handful of lessons, I quit - more or less because I couldn't play "Mr. Tambourine Man" and i don't like to suck at something so bad. For the next year I'd pick up the guitar and explore the sounds until frustration set in, at which point I'd have to put the guitar down.

Fast-forward to now and I still get frustrated - only about not starting sooner. I'm somewhat limited in my compositions, but what am I gonna do? I like to pluck the strings instead of using a pick, so I do that a lot. What I hear when I'm playing and various moods inspire me to write songs. I can even play Mr. Tambourine Man, now.

I like the idea of sharing my ideas and words and voice with people, not only as a means of expression but also because others seem to get something in return. I make my rounds in the Providence and Boston open mic scenes and have been featured at a few venues in Boston and Providence.

In my current incarnation, the music is for a "listening audience". Folk crowds and coffee house crowds, eccentric or jazzy crowds (even some drunk crowds) , and college kids seem to be pleased by my melodies. I got some fans in the fam, too.

I've performed in various capacities throughout my life for audiences of 1 to 500 (more small stuff than big stuff!). I would love to be able to sing all alone with my guitar for as large or small an audience that would have me. I'd also love to share the stage with other musicians in collaboration. I'm open to all of the possibilities that music inspires.
