"Local Songbird"

“Local Songbird – Kristin Connell’s debut album features road tested songs such as ‘Hello California’ and many love (and love gone wrong) songs such as the affecting ‘Did My Time’...” - Tacoma News Tribune

"The Victory Review"

“Second Chances is a polished pop album, beautifully played and sung. It’s very much like albums by Bruce Hornsby, modern and radio friendly but deeply rooted in American traditions. Let it be the guilt free dessert after the strict diet of twangy vocals and frailing. - The Victory Review

"Peaceful Easy Feeling"

You get a peaceful, easy feeling - to quote The Eagles - from listening to Kristin Connell’s music. This peace is further enhanced by the trees that decorate the artwork of this CD. Connell is a pretty-voiced singer that makes everything seem all right somehow.
A title like Second Chances might make you assume that this is a fully optimistic CD. But the title track, which is a soft rock number, doesn’t come off so completely positive. “Fall asleep to the television in this big lonely bed / This is not what I envisioned starting over again.” Song titles like “A Fool Like Me,” “Did My Time,” and “Don’t Tell Me Lies” suggest that Connell is just now attempting to pull herself out of a bad emotional spell. It’s this CD’s sound, rather than its lyrics, which give it an overall “up” feel, however. Connell surrounds herself with empathetic pedal steel, violin, and banjo here.
When that second chance comes along - assuming it actually does - perhaps Connell will sound a whole lot happier with a healed heart. Even so, Second Chances is the work of an artist that is in close touch with her emotions, which is always the best way to make quality art.

Bio

Award winning singer/songwriter, Kristin Connell, sings with ease, clarity and a voice so untainted and pure it draws the listener back for more. Connell’s debut album Second Chances shows her range of influences, from contemporary pop/folk to Americana; teaming with local producer Jonathan Kingham they created an album that captures exactly that. From the folk/pop feel of Hello California to the Americana sound of Did My Time, this album appeals to many different audiences, while not straying too far. “Second Chances is a polished folk/pop album beautifully played and sung. It’s very much like albums by Bruce Hornsby, modern and radio friendly but deeply rooted in American Traditions”… ~ The Victory Review.
An established performer in the Puget Sound area, Connell’s sincere personality shows on stage winning the hearts of those who hear her. Hello California took home 1st Place in the 2006 Gig Harbor Folk Festival Songwriting Contest for performance and songwriting and she has opened for artists like Grand Ole Opry Member Hal Ketchum and singer/songwriter Cliff Eberhardt and has also had festival stage shares with artists like John Gorka, Kelly Joe Phelps, Jill Sobule and Eliza Gilkyson. Being comfortable and real, audiences not only enjoy hearing great music but also leave feeling like they have spent the evening with a close friend.
Whether playing the college circuit, theatres, festivals, wineries or coffeehouse settings, Connell performs pure folk goodness delivered with a sincerity that could make a convict believe.
