"Pure folk goodness delivered with a sincerity that could make a convict believe..."

Biography

Award winning singer/songwriter, Kristin Connell, sings with ease, clarity and a voice so untainted and pure it draws the listener back for more. Connell’s debut album Second Chances shows her range of influences, from contemporary pop/folk to Americana; teaming with local producer Jonathan Kingham they created an album that captures exactly that. From the folk/pop feel of Hello California to the Americana sound of Did My Time, this album appeals to many different audiences, while not straying too far. “Second Chances is a polished folk/pop album beautifully played and sung. It’s very much like albums by Bruce Hornsby, modern and radio friendly but deeply rooted in American Traditions”… ~ The Victory Review.
An established performer in the Puget Sound area, Connell’s sincere personality shows on stage winning the hearts of those who hear her. Hello California took home 1st Place in the 2006 Gig Harbor Folk Festival Songwriting Contest for performance and songwriting and she has opened for artists like Grand Ole Opry Member Hal Ketchum and singer/songwriter Cliff Eberhardt and has also had festival stage shares with artists like John Gorka, Kelly Joe Phelps, Jill Sobule and Eliza Gilkyson. Being comfortable and real, audiences not only enjoy hearing great music but also leave feeling like they have spent the evening with a close friend.
Whether playing the college circuit, theatres, festivals, wineries or coffeehouse settings, Connell performs pure folk goodness delivered with a sincerity that could make a convict believe.

REVIEWS:
“Local Songbird – Kristin Connell’s debut album features road tested songs such as ‘Hello California’ and many love (and love gone wrong) songs such as the affecting ‘Did My Time’...” ~ The News Tribune

“Second Chances is a polished folk/pop album, beautifully played and sung. It’s very much like albums by Bruce Hornsby, modern and radio friendly but deeply rooted in American traditions. Let it be the guilt free dessert after the strict diet of twangy vocals and frailing.” ~The Victory Review

“Kristin Connell’s debut album Second Chances is the work of an artist that is in close touch with her emotions, which is always the best way to make quality art” ~Dan MacIntosh, Indie-Music.com

“Connell’s songs are well written – straightforward AAA contemporary style” ~Amy Lotsburg, Collected Sounds

A Fool Like Me

A Fool Like Me
© Kristin Connell/Jonathan Kingham

A fool like me doesn’t hesitate when it comes to love
I only live for the thrill of a lovers touch
Someone like me won’t think things through I just believe
Always trusting in things that are unseen

If you don’t love me
Go easy on my heart
It’s hard to see
When you’re a fool like me

A fool like me doesn’t understand when a lover leaves
I only feel the heartache that loss can bring
Someday when love finds you like it’s found me
Maybe then you might understand

If you don’t love me
Go easy on my heart
It’s hard to see
When you’re a fool like me

If you don’t love me
Go easy on my heart
Someday you’ll be
A fool like me

Hello California

Packing up my ride
Heading for the 5
Somewhere south of here
Maybe LA
I’ve been punching in my time
Working on this living
This living it ain’t much
It’s just letting me survive

So hello California here I come
Sky so blue, I’m surrounded by the sun
I need a place, I can get away
So hello California here I come

I can see so clearly now
I’m feeling so alive
The hope of new beginnings
Is right before my eyes
This rain ain’t done nothing
But wash me away
I’ve never been so tempted
To drive away and say

Oh hello California here I come
Sky so blue, I’m surrounded by the sun
I need a place, I can get away
So hello California here I come

These days have been so long and I’ve been waiting on my time
I work my fingers to the bone and only survive
So I’ll take my chances, follow my heart
Oh hello California here I come

So hello California here I come
Sky so blue, I’m surrounded by the sun
I've seen a place, I can get away
So hello California here I come

I saw Elvis

Written By: Kristin Connell

I SAW ELVIS
© Kristin Connell 2007

VERSE I
I saw Elvis in my bedroom
He had diamonds sewn on his suit
He said I am really not dead
Believe in me, believe in you

There are some things worth believing…

CHORUS
So fill me up with a big cup
Life is gone like a hiccup
Give me something real
I saw elvis

VERSE II
Rearrange, make it strange
Get a book on how to feng shui
Change your mood, attitude
Then good things will come your way

There are some things worth believing…

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
Some just want on rolling stone
Some to drink their wine in Rome
Life’s about possibilities

VERSE III
Looking for love, that someone who’s right
Only costs you 19.99
Short hair, long hair, skinny or fat
Find your soul mate, just like that

There are some things worth believing…

REPEAT CHORUS

The Well

Written By: Kristin Connell

VERSE I
Momma’s keep your boys at home
There’s a war going on
Cities burning to the ground
Blood red stains all around
Momma’s keep your boys at home

VERSE II
Daddies teach your little girls
Bout’ boys and guns
How words can change a world
How to hold the triggers of our tongues
So Daddies teach your little girls

CHORUS
What does it mean to truly love our brothers?
Without an air of judgment
We’re all somebody’s child; we’re all somebody’s mother
Jesus save us from ourselves

VERSE III
Brothers keep your sisters safe
From bigotry and hate
Like water poisoned in the well
Til’ swallowed down no one can tell
Brothers keep your sisters safe

Repeat Chorus
