Bio

A recent newcomer to Greenwich Village, singer/songwriter Kristin Hoffmann takes her audiences on a lyrical journey through the soothing simplicity of nature and the painful complexities of human relationships. Throughout her music, she ponders lif e's puzzling contradictions and love's joys and dissapointments. Although many of Kristin's songs emerge from experiences of frustration, these are songs of optimism that affirm a triumphant spirit.
Presently a student in vocal performance at New York University, Kristin continues to immerse herself in a wide range of musical and artistic pursuits. With years of classical training in voice, piano an d composition, she is equally comfortable singing an Italian Aria or composing a fugue as she is weaving her colorful poetry with music she creates on acoustic guitar or piano.
In 1996, Kristin Hoffmann recorded "Spring Comes," an album produced by Kristin and her band which featured fourteen original songs. The album was recorded at Carriage House St udios in Stamford, CT. It was released on her own independent label and sold very well around Fairfield County. Earlier, Kristin had recorded an album of children's music which contained eighteen songs written by Marie Meachen and was funded by Paramount Productions. During the past two years, Kristin has performed her original material in clubs and coffee houses, primarily in Fairfield County.
Born in 1978, Kristin Hoffmann has studied piano for fourteen years and voice for seven years, including two years with the Juilliard School Pre-College Program as a student of Lorraine Nubar. Afte r a major recital in Juilliard's Paul Hall in May 1997, Kristin continued her voice studies at the Summer Institute of Music in Nice, France. Joan Baez and Joni M itchell have inspired her compositions. The incredible range of her voice, the clarity of pitch, and the flow of her poetry reflect a mature musician creating songs that speak to the human heart and offer hope for tomorrow.
