Local Rapper Makes International Debut
CHARLOTTE- Carolina area rapper / producer Sharock aka Scorpion, has signed on as part of
Atlanta based Ichiban Records’ new Ichiban Records Presents “Crunk Mix Tape Compilation” release.
Sharock’s single, “Wobble That Thang”, released locally last year on the artist’s own Black Star
Records, will join tracks by renown artists like Ludacris, Lil’ Jon & Da Eastside Boyz, the Ying Yang
Twinz, DJ Smurf, D-Roc and many others. The cd has a release date of July 27, 2004 and will be
released worldwide.
Sharock has long been one of the top selling independent artist in the area. His signing is part of the
music industry’s sudden interest in the Carolinas. Teen aged rapper “Nam” (rhymes with “mom”)
recently signed with Geffen records and r&b singer Anthony Hamilton released his debut cd on So So
Def Records last year. Sharock’s plan is to use this release to attract a major label while he independently
markets and promotes his next cd. The Ichiban release will finally give Sharock the national
recognition he’s been longing for. A music video shoot is scheduled for August in Charlotte and will
feature a massive cookout for the community.
