Your moms favorite rapper.. Kevin Ray Thibodeaux was born on May 9, 1992, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born into a musically inclined family, surrounded by singers and pianists. Like most artists, Kevin received his first taste of performing while going to church as a young child. Just hearing the applause from the crowd gave him a great feeling. While attending school, Kevin dabbled in different artistic subjects, including band and choir. Band did not interest him as much as he had anticipated, and he was not disciplined enough for choir at the time. It was not until Hurricane Rita moved him and his family from Beaumont to the rural, small town of Waskom, Texas, he realized he had a passion for writing and recording music. It was also where he discovered his stage name, KTeezy.

By the time Kevin reached 8th grade, he had joined 3 other classmates to form his 1st group, A-1 Click. The group, whose genre was hip-hop and R&B, consisted of 4 members: KTeezy, YoungFame, Dubbz, and Kev Da Beast. Over the course of three years, they made many songs that cumulated into 3 mixtapes, and gained over 1,000 fans between the towns of Waskom and Marshall, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana. Just as they were about to make their 4th mixtape, Kevin’s mom suddenly died due to unknown and unforeseen circumstances. This made a big impact in Kevin’s life, so much so that he took a break from music. After he came to peace over his mom’s death, once again, he returned to music—picking up the pad and pen to pursue new music with his new outlook on life. With his new perception of life, he realized the type of music he was making with the group did not fit his personality, therefore allowing him to step away from A-1 Click and explore his abilities as a solo act.

After a year passed, Kevin went to college with the hopes and dreams of being recognized for his talent, eagerness, and drive to succeed. Within a month of going to school, he came across a record label by the name of King Gruve Records, who so happened to be looking for talent. The label members consisted of Spencer Shafer and Marty Gruver, and after a few meetings and discussions, they decided to invest in Kevin. Since being under the guidance of Spencer Shafer, Kevin realized his true calling in music with his pop/electro/house sound. Since the start of Kevin’s relationship with King Gruve Records, he has gained over 1,000 new fans in less than a year. He came to the realization that he loves to make people dance, while simultaneously believing pop to be a breath of fresh air from the “gansta shoot em’ up” side of hip-hop. Kevin’s main goal is to become a success and provide the world with great, timeless music. “Music is all I know, and it would be a dream to do what I’m passionate about for a living”-KTeezy.
