Bio

Kulcha Far I, a.k.a. Christopher Hakata, was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa. In 1980, Kulcha got his first taste of reggae when Zimbabwe gained independence from British rule. On April 18, 1980, Bob Marley performed in Zimbabwe, during the country's first independence celebration. Reggae had a profound impact upon scores of Zimbabwean youths – including Kulcha, and the rest is now history. Reggae music began hitting the radio airwaves, and Kulcha immersed himself in the roots reggae sounds of music legends Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse and London-based group like ASWAD and Misty In Roots.
