Kurtis Lamar Hutton

BandChristianRock

Kurtis Lamar Hutton pours out powerful, raw, & passionate vocals with soulful guitar licks wrapped up in a package of Modern Christian Rock, Praise & Worship, and Blues, mixing both originals and cover tunes into his set.

Biography

Kurtis Lamar Hutton began playing guitar at the age of 8 years old, inspired by the records his mother and grandparents bought for him which included B.B. King and The Beatles. That grew into a life long love of music and playing guitar, honing his skills over the years in a variety of settings and genre's. Kurt's playing has been greatly influenced by Eric Clapton(Cream), Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), Jimmy Page, as well as several blues masters and both southern and hard rock bands of the 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond.

His vocal style is reminiscent of Warren Haynes(Allman Bros./Govt. Mule); Glenn Kaiser (GKB & Rez Band); and Joe Cocker.

Social injustice, love, life, and the issues that affect us all, including unanswered questions, and KLH's own journey, personal faith, and the many demons Kurtis has had to face and fight in his life make up much of the lyrical content of his songs, which range in style from emotional ballads and modern takes on traditional blues and spiritual hymns to forceful high octane all out rockers which span the full gamut of his diverse musical influences.

"Price"
Music and Lyrics written by Kurtis Lamar Hutton

Now I’ve got my cross to bear, and I wear it so well
Like a badge of honor that I’m trying to sell
But for all of that there’s no scars on my hands
And my sin, my sin, it surely drove the spikes,
That caused an innocent man to lay down His life
I couldn’t do it, not that I didn’t have the time
I’m just not worthy of it, but he commited no crime

There’s a price for love, but I can’t pay it
There’s a price for freedom, but I can’t buy it
There’s a price for life, it’s impossible to ignore it.
There’s a price for forgiveness, no one can afford it

There is evil running through my veins
This dichotomy is driving me insane
I can’t seem to do what is right
What I don’t wanna do I’ve done in plain sight
I can’t help myself no matter how hard I try
I need a savior who can mend this broken life
And lift me up so I can live again

There’s a price for love, but I can’t pay it
There’s a price for freedom, but I can’t buy it
There’s a price for life, it’s impossible to ignore it.
There’s a price for forgiveness, no one can afford it

In order for freedom to be won
there has to be a sacrifice
But there’s none righteous no not one
So He chose to pay THE PRICE

There’s a price for love, but I can’t pay it
There’s a price for freedom, but I can’t buy it
There’s a price for life, it’s impossible to ignore it.
There’s a price for forgiveness, no one can afford it
