Kyle Madsen Trio

Kyle Madsen is an up and coming Saxophonist, multi-reedist, composer, and
bandleader in the ever growing and developing Chicago music scene. Specializing in
saxophone, flute and clarinet, Kyle is a graduate of Chicago College of Performing
Arts of Roosevelt University with a Bachelors in Music Performance. Kyle performs
around the Midwest for various bands, functions and special events, with major
influences including giants such as Sonny Rollins, and Joe Henderson, as well as
more contemporary artists like Seamus Blake, and Chris Potter.

Born in New York and raised in Las Vegas, Kyle grew up in a highly musical family
and was exposed to a variety of diverse genres and global styles at a young age. Kyle
graduated from Las Vegas Academy for The Arts, a 10 time Grammy winning high
school. In 4 years as a jazz major, Kyle performed with artists such as Randy
Brecker, Nat Reeves, Leon Ndugu Chancellor, Marlena Shaw, Anita Brown, Dave
Pietro, and many others. He has also had the opportunity to perform in prestigious
festivals such as the Reno, Lionel Hampton, Monterey Next Generation, and the
101st Monterey Jazz Festival. In that time Kyle was accepted into the CCSD Honor
Band, Honor Jazz Band and NMEA All State Jazz Band twice (08-09).

At CCPA, Kyle was a student of Mike Smith and Jim Gailloreto. He has performed
twice (10,11) at the Elmhurst College Jazz festival, winning an Outstanding Solo
award in 2011. He as also had the opportunity to perform with artists such as Tom
Garling, Paul Wertico, Rob Parton, Victor Garcia, Steve Eisen, Butch Miles, John
Wojciechowski and Jeff Berlin.

Since moving to Chicago in 2009, Kyle has traveled, recorded, and performed with
many artists around the Midwest such as Big Star, BMR 4, Chicago Afrobeat
Project, Genome, This Must Be The Band, Afro Zep, Jamie Lono, and many other
groups. He has performed major venues in Chicago including Andy’s Jazz Club,
The Jazz Showcase, Park West, The Auditorium Theater, House of Blues Chicago,
Martyr’s, Cubby Bear, City Winery, SPACE, Double Door, Reggie’s Rock Club,
Subterranean, and many others. Kyle has also performed in major music festivals
such as Summer Camp, Wakarusa, Summerfest, and Taste of Randolph. Kyle has
also subbed and performed in musicals, such as the off-Broadway hit The Original
Grease on Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone. He also leads his own trio, which performs extensively in multiple genres.
