Bio
Kyle Knowles began drumming on empty ice cream buckets to Simon and Garfunkel's "Cecilia" at about age eight. At age 16, Prince's "Purple Rain" poster hung on his bedroom wall and he was given an Ibanez bass for his birthday. After only a few bass lessons, he spent most of his practice time pumping AC/DC's "Back in Black" through his 300 watt bass amp.
In 1986, Kyle began banging on the piano and wrote his first song. A year later, he started a two-piece band with Craig Nybo called My Rockin' Grandpa Rodney Brain-dead. The band produced a half-a-dozen tracks including "She's Ugly" and "Is It Love or Is It Dyslexia" on a dual-cassette Karaoke machine.
Ten years later Kyle purchased a Roland XP-50 keyboard/music workstation and began writing several songs including for songs. During the late 90's, Kyle experienced U2 in concert, wore out Third Eye Blind's freshman CD, and fell in love with Sheryl Crow.
In 1999, he heard the song "Hang" by Matchbox Twenty. The song inspired Kyle to buy an Ovation electric/acoustic guitar. Learning "Sullivan Street" by the Counting Crows solidified his newfound love for the guitar.
The guitar inspired several new songs including "I Will Be There," the first track on Kyle's Dreams (EP). The song won an honorable mention in the John Lennon Song Writing contest.
