Bio

Kynosis started with a desire to escape the bounds of musical normalcy. What became is a collaboration of instrumentation and style that fuses the old and new while maintaining a sound that’s it’s very own. With the release of the first record and a Midwest tour imminent, Kynosis provides substance to the typical musician's dream. The music, while new and inventive, provides qualities desirable to music listeners abroad, and the commercial value cannot go unnoticed. In many ways, we're the band you didn't know you were looking for.

Kynosis began its journey a long, long time ago. Keyboardist and lead singer Josh Holmberg began writing songs to play with fellow musicians Gordon and Peter, and current bassist Paul Stine. The songs were cool, and opportunities to play and record presented themselves. Although the recordings would never be released or heard, the concept of the music was born.

Current guitarist Lewis Werner brought a new sound to Kynosis. With a show booked and no guitarist, Paul and Josh were desperate and turned to everyone they knew to help in the search for the integral piece. The rest is history, as Lewis has become a name stay within the group. Also, female participation at concerts rose significantly as Lewis provided the “look” so desired by ladies everywhere.

Michael took over drumming duties in the spring of 2005 and Kynosis began its strongest push towards greatness. Playing out regularly in the late summer and fall of 2005, Kynosis saw reasonable success and although crowds were nice, there was nothing to back it up… nothing to say, “Take this home and listen to it.”

In the fall and winter of 2005, talks of a record began to circulate, and Kynosis embarked on a journey to find the “perfect” studio and producer to work with.

Although the journey was long, Kynosis plans to release their first record, “September has Arrived” a masterpiece delivered by Jeff Halland of Vaudeville. Over the past 6 months, the songs have taken their final shape, and the results are impressive.

As Kynosis begins their first Midwest tour backing “September has Arrived – The LP,” the future looks bright. The band is thrilled with their first studio effort. The music, which is bravely thought provoking, sometimes epic, and decisively chill, provides listeners with a healthy collaboration of instrumentation and styles. All to be enjoyed loud, front and center on stage.
