The album "Galactic Boredom" of the Italian group La Blanche Alchimie is made from a magic recipe, as their name draws upon, related to white alchimie, which as they say best represents the world we live in.
Despite the purity of the world they are advocating, the album Galactic Boredom is more of an omage brought to a retreat from this world to a magical one, full of fireflies, glass balls rolling on the floor, a night fire, a seashell at your ear, some scheletons dancing, a fairytale garden where you can understand the languages spoken by peacocks and ants, where there's a taint of black magic with blue eyes and blackberry lips. And everything is under the sign of a cosmic boredom, Baudlairian blues, an anguish of existance, which also gives us the title of the album.
The music is on the same page as the images: dream pop, with resonances of electro, acoustic or classic nature, having varied instrumantation, from toys that tick and mantain the rhythm to psychedelic electro sounds or ethereal ones and string instruments (piano, guitar and an austere cello).
The album is a very harmonious musical whole, and this doesn't surprise us, because La Blanche Alchimie have reached their second album (the first one was released in 2009) and both are experienced musicians: Federico Albanese plays various instruments and Jessica Einaudi, who is also the author of the lyrics, was raised in a musician family and has been training her voice since she was a young child - her father, Ludovico Einaudi, is also the producer of this last album.
If you're in the mood for a very pleasant goof-natured music inspiring the air of a secret garden where tea under the cherry tree awaits you, we recommend you listen to Galactic Boredom (the first album isn't bad either -named La Blanche Alchimie- but it's a bit different, and this new sound seems to be more suitable for them). Our favorites off this album are Black Girl, Fireflies, My Ear is a Shell and Temples Burning, on the latter one, we feel that the voice and the instrumental resembles Hooverphonic.
