Based in Barcelona, La Brigada craft luminous pop songs with influences ranging from finest pop (Ray Davies, Elvis Costello, The Divine Comedy) to American folk rock (Love, Neil Young, Clem Snide, Byrds).
Their brand new album "L'obligació de ser algú" (The obligation to be someone) was recorded within metres of the mediterranean, and the tracks drip with the chilled sounds of the sea. Mastered in New York by Fred Kerkovian (White Stripes, Ryan Adams), the album has caught the imagination and attention of international critics, despite being sung entirely in Catalan. The group were snapped up by international label Outstanding Records (The Pinker Tones, David Devant) and count Bart Davenport, Carl Barat, Andy Rourke, Howe Gelb, Robyn Hitchcock and many others as confirmed fans.
In April 2008, their debut album topped the Catalan charts, being widely acclaimed in Mondosonoro, Go, Enderrock and the wider press, with front man Pere Agramunt hailed for achieving a breakthrough for homegrown Catalan music.
