TODAY'S PICK: LABRON LAZENBY AND LA3 AT THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS HERITAGE CENTER
He's been selected to represent the Smoky Mountain Blues Society next year at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and for good reason ? Labron Lazenby and his band, LA3, are the No. 1 blues and boogie band in East Tennessee. Lazenby is a master of the thumb- and finger-picking style made famous by Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, on top of being a prolific songwriter and a soulful singer, and he's a longtime fixture on the local music scene. At 7 tonight, you can enjoy the sounds of Labron Lazenby and LA3 against the backdrop of the Townsend skyline, where the group performs at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center (123 Cromwell Drive) as part of the Sunset Concert Series. Admission is $4 for adults/$3 for kids and seniors.
