Bio

Guitar in hand, strumming away, Lacey Mattison captivates and calms her crowd with her soft and soothing voice. Lacey is a Reno, Nevada native who has always been into dance, music and theatre. She got her start when she was 11 in a summer drama program singing “Castle on a Cloud” from Les Miserables. At 16, her father Ken Mattison, bought Lacey her first guitar at a garage sale, teaching her everything she knows.

In 2001 Lacey performed her first open mic night at The Jib Coffee House in Reno, NV. She has been a featured performer ever since. Lacey says that much of her inspiration in writing new tunes comes from, “My family, love, the earth, unexpected situations, apple trees, the ocean, beautiful things, breath and sunshine.” You may recognize her from her work with the Bruka Theater; she was Sally in Reefer Madness in 2007 and also had roles in the Buttcracker and Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Lacey is very light hearted and free spirited. Her smile can lighten up an entire room. Her songs bring out that very energy. Just take a listen to “Tip Toe”; you’ll definitely be bouncing in your seat with a huge grin on your face. Or dive into “Dreamers” and connect with your inner being. Who does she sound like?? “Me”, Lacey says with an instant smile. Others may say she’s a mix between Sarah McLachlan, The Sundays and Jewel, with a splash of Nelly Furtado.

Lately, Lacey has been in the studio recording her first album. Which she is super excited about. The album is produced by local great James Cavanaugh, featuring Kent Muira on percussion and Lisa McCuiston on back up vocals and electric violin.
