Still working on that hot first release.

A rousing evening of time-warp terpsichoral* harmonies awaits you, courtesy of Ladies’ Night Out. This group of five merry ladies delivers the best in jazz, blues, gospel, and pop, with a touch of doowop thrown in for fun. Inspired by the Boswell Sisters, Andrews Sisters, and Bette Midler, Ladies’ Night Out puts on a lively show where the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy meets the Boy from New York City, a Blue Moon shines over Route 66, and everyone gets In The Mood.

The Ladies perform with renowned jazz artist Ray Reach, and have shared the stage with other local jazz greats, including Cleve Eaton, Bo Berry, Chris Griffin, and the Superjazz Big Band. They have appeared at City Stages, Birmingham Jazz Fest, and Birmingham Heritage Festival, as well as many charity events, private parties, and local nightclubs.

The Ladies first became acquainted while singing in the choir at Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Getting together after rehearsals, they simply kept on singing. A couple of impromptu performances at the annual choir pancake supper encouraged them to take it to the next level, and Ladies’ Night Out was born.

When not on stage, the Ladies stay busy in a diverse range of day gigs. Anne Bell-Alford teaches the next generation of musicians at a local elementary school, and shares her talent with Orff instruments onstage with the Ladies. Debbie Medenica is grateful to be a former school choir conductor, and now spends her time tap dancing, acting in local theatre productions, singing in various choral groups, and posting on Facebook. Janet Ort teacheshigh school environmental science, and leads her students on adventures in the CahabaRiver and South American rain forests. Karen Shadinger sells real estate, but spends much of her time with her aging but adorable pair of dachshunds, Ben & Jerry. Sally Reilly practices law, and even with many years under her belt, is still practicing.

Ladies’ Night Out jumps into action in the first minutes of the show, and keeps you hooked the whole evening long. Augmented by a delightful array of props and costumes, they camp it up and vamp it up with the best. This is one show that's strong and sassy, but never sleepy.
