"Canadian Music Week - Thursday Preview"

March 7, 2007

Named for a Joni Mitchell song, the Ladies of the Canyon are part of a great Montreal roots showcase happening at the Rancho Relaxo. The female four piece emphasize song-writing and harmonies over ornate instrumentation, which means you’ll have ample opportunities to hear their voices soar. Their songs, especially “In The Riverbed,” form a wonderful bridge between the folk and soul genres. -- Mike Warner - The Torontoist

"Noise Makers 2008"

What they play is acoustic country/folk, with guitar, piano and vocals by Bleile, Maïa Davies and Senja Sargeant, with jazz pro Anna Ruddick on bass. The quartet’s roots fusion is most evident in their vocal harmonies. - Montreal Mirror

"peer review"

Ladies Of The Canyon is a great band. They’ve got it all. Great
writing
talent, beautiful voices, harmony, and their stage presence is
electric.
The songs are really well-crafted and their interpretations are bang
on.
These Ladies mean business! I’m a big fan and you will be too once you
hear
them or see them perform.

Bio

Built of four of the strongest musical voices in Montreal City’s thriving, internationally celebrated scene, Ladies of The Canyon’s sound is as polymorphic, true and passionate as its members, following the spirit of the moment – ethereal folkie fingerstyle guitar licks might escape suddenly to pounding rock drums and bass, heavy grooves or lush vocal harmonies that soar over a simple piano melody. Enjoy!
