Super-Star Rapper Ladi Jade is currently working on multiple projects in Houston, TX. Often recognized as the future of female rap, she prides her self in being dedicated to the arts by educating her self in the technicalities of audio engineering.
Ladi Jade was born Kelli Nicole Drake in Grand Rapids, Michigan circa 1980 something. With a love for music she began to play several instruments including: Alto Sax, Flute, Clarinet, Piccolo, and Oboe as early as age 8. Her love for Hip-Hop was inspired by her mom, she performed her first rap in the 6th grade in a group with friends and began writing poems and rap in High school. After a short stint at Michigan State, she decided that a degree in Marketing was good but Audio Engineering was her calling so she picked up and moved to Houston, Texas to become a certified audio engineer and turntablist. She worked as a concert promoter and promo model with Pink Katz Promotions and LCA Media to pay her way through Engineer School. Her first engineering client was George Clinton of the legendary Parliament/ Funkadelic, and since then she has gone on to work with Grammy Award Winning Artist Tweet, El DeBarge, Oscar Award Winning Artist/ Producer Juicy J, Warner Brothers Artists Chinkie Brown, Lil Scrappy, Oj Da Juiceman, & Diamond. After being behind the scenes for so long she decided to take a stab at being an artist which led her to become the artist formerly known as LADI JADE. Her first feature was with Grammy Nominated Artist/ Producer Danny Swain. Ladi Jade Founded her own label imprint called Pot Holder Entertainment in 2009 which spawned its 1st artist, a group effort called Tree House Gang consisting of Ladi Jade, Jungle Boi, and Gio. Ladi Jade also launched a Non-Profit Organization called N.H.H.C.E.A. (National Hip Hop Community Enrichment Association) designed to promote community service & present encouraging news to the media via Hip Hop. NHHCEA sponsored a toy drive for over 100 kids in Detroit, Michigan as well as The Port-A-Lab Moblie Recording Studio which provided mobile engineering services to independent aritsts on a low to medium budget. Ladi Jade launched her 1st solo effort in 2012 to a worldwide audience called Ladi Jade Presents: Doprah Winfrey-The Starting Five, which is available for digital download on iTunes, Amazon, rhapsody & cdbaby as well as in stores!
Her musical influences include rapppers Tupac and Nas, singer Sade Adu, and females rappers Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot Lil Kim and Foxy Brown. Ladi Jade has made her way across the country in a hot pursuit of her musical destiny.
