The band Ladybird is looking forward to joining forces once again in September.

The story of Ladybird begins with songwriting team, Stella Panacci and James Quinn. Together, they developed a collection of songs over the span of a year: the winter spent in Toronto, the summer at a rented farm on Prince Edward Island (P.E.I). The resulting songs blend roots with rock, encompassing the unique and vivacious spirits of the island and the city.

With a fresh catalogue of songs in hand, Stella and James were ready to expand the sound. Conveniently enough, James soon found their rhythm section while playing with fiddler Stephanie Cadman’s group at a showcase in New York. James invited bass player Devin Hornby and drummer Rich Knox to come to the Toronto studio that he started with Stella to check out their demos. Attracted to the sweet yet strong lyrical sound of Stella and James, Rich and Devin formed a dynamic and sympathetic rhythm section. The ensuing live recordings became a blueprint for a new CD now being recorded and produced by Ladybird.

As it happens, the three men of Ladybird were not only born and raised in different parts of P.E.I., but they had also all began their musical careers on the island inspired by the lively and robust east coast arts scene. In the summer of 2009, Ladybird travelled home to visit family and friends and play a few gigs along the way. The group made a distinct first impression with their east coast audiences.

Working with Toronto-based sound engineer Steven Traub, at the band's recording studio, "Rocket Sound", Ladybird released their debut album in March of 2010. The group hosted a double CD release party, in Charlottetown and in Toronto. The east coast CD release party was also a celebration of the success of Ladybird’s east coast tour which culminated in a showcase at the 2010 East Coast Music Awards in Sydney, Cape Breton.

Ladybird were selected for an excusive interview that was aired on CBC Radio 1, throughout Atlantic Canada twice during the time of the ECMAs.

Stella and James will be heading to the OCFF conference in Ottawa to perform as an acoustic duo on Oct 15th 2010. Hope to see you there!

They are excited to showcase the material from Ladybird Vol 1 as well as unveil new material to their audiences.
