Bio

known as the dynamic “Diva of Soul” and for good reason such as her sultriest soulful sound, style, creativity, and talent. Lady L. is more than just a singer she is an awesome entertainer. She brings a
wealth of energy to any stage and quickly captivates her audience engaging them in her show. She’s classy, jazzy, and has a great sense of humor on stage. Lady L. is also known for her signature
dance in which the crowd goes wow when she “drops down and gets her eagle on”.
Linda Dixon (A.K.A. “Lady L.”) was born March 16, 1965 , the youngest of eight children in Canton, MS. At the age of 10 her mother recognize her talent and desire to sing and play piano as she would
sit at the kitchen table using it as her imaginary piano and belt out tunes she had learned from the radio and church choir. Her mother through a Christmas savings purchased her first piano and Lady L.
began playing piano at various churches throughout Canton, MS which made her parents very proud. Her parents at this point knew that there was more to their baby girl than they could imagine. At
12 years old Lady L. organized a local female gospel group, known as the Gospelettes, in which she was one of the lead singers.
Lady L. graduated High School in 1983 and pursued her undergraduate degree at Alcorn State University in 1987. During that same year she moved to Milwaukee, WI. There she meet great recording
local artist and guitarist Will “Duchie” Rogers of Black Earth Plus who allowed her to perform for the first time on stage in Milwaukee, WI. This is where Lady L. got her start in the Midwest singing tunes
that rocked the crowd. Determined to get her name out there Lady L. would sit in with local bands and sing for free just for exposure. Through this exposure, she built a strong fan base that followed her
act throughout the Midwest.
Seeing this talent Lady L. later became lead singer with a local blues band “The Misfits” owner James “Foots” Tatum whom Lady L. refers to as her daddy in the music business whom has taught her
most of what she knows about show business. While working with the Misfits, she formed a bond with keyboardist and best friend Tim Campbell who later organized the “First Class Show Band”.
Lady L. later teamed up with the dynamic Jeannie Holiday and they became a tag team “the dynamic duals” rocking Milwaukee with soulful tunes from the 60’s, 70’s 80’s & 90’s. Lady L. soon ventured
her solo act and formalized her own band “Lady L.” performing at various night clubs throughout Wisconsin. She also performed at many of the local festivals such as African World Festival, and
Garfield Day in Milwaukee, WI hosted annually in Milwaukee, WI.
Lady L.’s distinguish soulful sound many often compared to the soulful styles of nationally known Artists such as Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin singing tunes such as (Disco Inferno and Chain of Fools)
July 2010 Lady L. moved back to her birth place Canton, MS to care for her 91 year old father who has now passed away, this left a great void in her life given that now both parents whom she cherish
were now gone but never forgotten. During the time Lady L was caring for her father, she continued to pursue her music dreams where she meet many Mississippi local blues artist and musicians.
Special thanks to Blues Guitarist Chris Gill and the Soul Shakers for allowing her to entertain and perform on his shows at the Hilton Hotel, Jackson, MS. which gave her great exposure. Lady L. later
joined forces with the Central City Blues Society performing at Blue Mondays (Hal & Mal, Jackson, MS) with great blues artists Pat Brown, Dennis Fountain, and many others. Through this friendship she
became a regular act at LD’s Restaurant & Lounge in Vicksburg, MS (Larry Prentice-owner). During one of her performances at LD’s Restaurant & Lounge, Lady L. was introduced to Andrew Barnes a
local promoter/producer from Woodville, MS who connected her with the Legendary “Motown” GC Cameron known for his hit singles “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday and “It’s A Shame”
(former lead singer of the Spinners, and Temptation) they later joined forces and together composed her newest hit single “Tonite”.
