Lady Luck

Lady Luck is an electro-pop singer-songwriter. Tinted by a touch of rock and a smooth fusion of genres, her songs are characterized by their catchy melodies and intricate arrangements. Always ready to surprise listeners, she is an underground artist unafraid of the more 'mainstream' universe.

With Electrified, Lady Luck, aka Marie-Ève Lachance delivers a first release which is both daring and electrifying! Though influences such as Goldfrapp, Royksopp, and Bjork are apparent, this carnal and dark opus produced by Philippe Massabki reveals its own unique personality. ‘In your face’ rhythms mingle with lyrics that are nestled into a backdrop of sadness. Yet, even from the first listen, this is surprisingly infused with humor and charm.

Already deep into songwriting, Marie-Ève Lachance began her singing career around the age of 14, when she performed live and won competitions. Her beginnings are also marked by performances in a Miami, Florida hotel. The young artist’s father was the manager of the establishment’s restaurant, and hired musicians to give his daughter the opportunity to sing for hundreds of people. Lachance continued her live performances until 1998, where, after studying Theatre, she withdrew to perfect her craft. After tweaking her composition, arrangement and vocal abilities for a few years, she dove back into song in 2003 with a self-produced demo followed by a few live shows in 2004. The desire to push boundaries married well with a newfound interest in electronic music. Self-taught, Lachance used what she had learned to recompose a new repertoire.

A clever DIY (do-it-yourself) artist, Lachance recorded the new compositions at home, and at the same time followed studio mixing courses taught by Philippe Massabki. Seduced by the quality of the material and the talent of the musician, Massabki helped mix the Dream Like Vision EP (released in 2008). The one-woman-band (DJ, keyboardist and singer), then got back up on stage and impressed new fans. Even from her second show in this incarnation, she managed to attract the attention of Rupert Bottenberg of the Montreal Mirror.
In consequence, Massabki suggested recording and producing a full album in his studio. Delighted and satisfied with the results of 15 years of effort and perseverance, Lady Luck now unleashes a passionate, touching and accomplished piece of art.
