L.A. Girlfriend

Founder, producer, and leader of the LA based, Darkwave project L.A. Girlfriend, Sydney Banta reminisces on the unrequited loves of her past and immortalizes them into powerful, synth heavy, dance ballads. Heartbreaking, yet liberating, her sound captures the essence of the restless & romantic LA spirit. Inspired by the Post-Punk, New Wave, and New Romantique movements of the early 80s, the L.A. Girlfriend aesthetic leans toward a dark nostalgia. Honest lyrics of longing are laid over dance-tempo melodies, giving each song an ironic and charming character. In less than two years of being established, L.A. Girlfriend has released two EPs, made various radio appearances, and performed as an opener for acts like Miami Horror, Mr. Little Jeans, and The New Division. As the year progresses, the focus is on performing to new audiences, writing a solid debut album, and furthering the potential of L.A. Girlfriend.
