Bio

Like tears bleeding down from the heavens.

Lágrima makes heavy passionate music that is beautifuly dark while still maintaining melody and calmness. Heavy-yet still melodic-songs that ocassionally drift into experimental escapades. A band that is very hard to contain in a labeled box, yet stil very recognizably appealing to the heavy music genres. The band has become known for it's sparkling an energetic live shows, capturing the crowds attention from the beginning 'til the end.

Formed in 2004 by four musicians originally from the Caribbean island Aruba, now residing in the Netherlands, the band has been working it's way up in the underground rock/metal scene ever since, and has gained more and more recognition amongst peers and fans in the national bandcircuit.

Their 1st demo was received well by several media such as the "3voor12 VPRO" and the "Popunie". After winning a pre-selection round at the "Battle of Total Music" at their 1st show ever, they managed to conquer a slot at the "Ijsselpop festival 2004" shortly afterwards by winning the "Slag om Ijsselpop". They also won the 2nd place at the "Grote Prijs van Voorne-Putten" in the same year. Lagrima also participated in the "Grote Prijs van Zuidholland 2005",playing at venues like 't Paard van Troje and became soon one of the public's favorites. This way the band built a solid live reputation from the very beginning.

After a short break in the Source studio with producer Oscar Bor, Lagrima released their 2nd promotional demo, consisting of 3 powerful tracks, at the dawn of the year 2006, presenting this to the audience by giving a well received release party.

The band was invited to play the "EMERGENZA Festival: the biggest bandcompetition on the planet for unsigned acts in North America and Europe". With the help and support of a steady growing and expanding fanbase, they won the pre-selections at the Winston and the P60, and therefore earned a spot at the regional final at a sold out!!!Melkweg (the Max), May 13th 2006, ranking as 2nd best guitarist & drummer and 3d top bassist of the night amongst a total of 12 bands.

The band was privileged to participate in the Grolsch Grote Prijs van Nederland 2006, the most prestigious talentcompetition in the Netherlands for rising stars. The band got selected in the 12 semi finalists from a 1000+ demos and over 40 bands scouted live.
The song "Down a string" was choosen as the rockin' opening track of the Grolsch Grote Prijs compilation album, containing all the Finalists of 2006. About 3000 copies of this promo cd were spread around the country in stores such as the Free record shop and it was also available on the 3voor12 Luisterpaal.

Lágrima embarked on the adventurous journey, making it to the Finals, where on december the 9th they played in a sold out Melkweg (The Max)for the second time in the same year! This event can be seen on the award winning site www.fabchannel.com

The adventure ended pleasantly with Lágrima drummer Tarek Nava winning the price for the Grolsch Grote Prijs Best Musician 2006, consisting of a 1000 euro cheque along with numerous interviews in national drum & percussion magazines.

No more competitions....time to focus on bigger things.

Lágrima is currently in the studio with rising producer/engineer Oscar Bor recording their next release.... a storm is about to hit the Dutch shores!!!Stay tuned.
