She started out as an engineer earning the big bucks, but Lahkeisha Wallace’s heart was somewhere else.
“All I could think about was music.
“God has given me the gift of singing and this is something I know in my heart I’m suppose to pursue and I can’t be scared of the unknown and not pursue it,” said Wallace.
To make her singing dream possible, single mother of one departed her engineering position in another state and returned to Virginia for family support.MM
Wallace currently teaches math part-time at the private school, Richmond Academy.
So how much is the pay difference since her career change?
“It’s like $20,000 less, but when you’re doing what you love, the money really doesn’t matter,” she said.
Although the music business has plenty R&B female singers, she feels her music is unique.
Wallace’s style transcends R&B and pop genre with an inspirational fill.
“You don’t really find many Black females in pop.
“People are yearning for something that is going to uplift their character, spirit, and give them hope for situations,” she said.
Singers like Anita Baker, Karyn Clark, Donnie Hathaway and CeCe Winans has influenced Wallace and now it’s her time to show off what she has learned.
The alto has attracted listeners since childhood with her soulful and magnetic tone.
Wallace admits in her younger days she did not take singing seriously like her parents, “but I always loved it and worked towards increasing that talent,” she said.
At age 14, Wallace began singing references for country artists seeking material.
Additionally, Wallace has performed at many events and even step into the field of acting in plays and film.
Songs like, So Blessed, Just Walk Away, and Ladies Night can be heard on her demo. An album will soon follow with additional songs this summer. - The Voice Newspaper Group

Fresh out of college, Lahkeisha started out making the big bucks working as an engineer, a path very different from her singing and acting roots. Growing up, Lahkeisha’s roots were strongly vested into music. Whether it was the
church choir, talent contest, or In and Out of state events, Lahkeisha was always ready to bring her “A” game.
At 14, she began singing references for artist seeking material. Soon she was given the opportunity to attend schools vested in the performing arts which helped enhance her singing abilities while also introducing her to the second love of her life, acting. After trying her hand at engineering for a year, she finally decided to return to her 1st love. With her eyes on the prize and her hands in Gods unfaltering hands, she has dedicated her life to pursuing her passion. How can she deny what literally runs through her veins? Inspired by the captivating voices of Commission, Take 6, Mariah Carey, Brandy, and Whitney Houston, Lahkeisha has an unforgettable sound and look that is destined to uplift and inspire the world.
