"Cash On Delivery"

"Cash On Delivery" Lailo
Editor Rating: HEATSEEKERS

Lailo is an up-and coming rapper raised between the boroughs of Queens and Long Island. He was featured on an Erick Sermon track at the age of 14 and has been working on his music career ever since. Today, he's shared a new collaboration with Fred The Godson, and naturally, it's New York through-and-through, reminiscent of something we would've heard from the region in the early 00s, it uses its nostalgia generously, but pulls from an era that hasn't been over-saturated by homage. Look for Lailo's debut EP, WHOisLAILO, available across all digital retailers.

"Cash On Delivery" has placed Lailo among this week's final four Heatseekers. If you like to have your song or video featured on the site, you can submit content to us here.

Quotable Lyrics:
You know consistency is what the game need
And obviously I am a new breed
School of money, please believe I'm no truancy
I'm there everyday, they know where Lai stay - Hot New Hip Hop

"Music: Dolla and a Dream by Lailo"

Why did you select this song as your current single?
I’ve selected this song as the current single, because as an inspiring artist, most of us start with a vision, and a Dollar and A Dream. Everybody who’s on the grind can relate.
How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?
This single brings the EP together, starting off with a Dollar and A Dream allowed me to take the steps needed in order create the entire project. It ties the EP together by telling a story of somebody who’s trying to make it out of their current situation and into a better way of living.
What was the writing process for the song?
When Creating this track, I thought of my friends in the projects, most of them hustle to survive, they don’t want to be working a dead-end job just to make ends meet, they rather be independent, but don’t necessarily know how to make the transition from illegal to going legit. This song maybe a motivation and a blue print for them to go out there and put some money away or invest it into something else.
What does this song’s lyric mean to you?
It’s telling a story, I’m opening the eyes to America, letting them know that ALL young black men don’t want to sit around and sell drugs all day, they want to take care of their family and want to break the cycles. They want to show their kids that it’s more in the world than these 4 corners.
What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?
It will be dope, when I perform I make you really listen to what I’m saying, and the message that’s behind the music, I don’t just put words together to have fun or act funny.
Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?
No, they can only get an idea. You will need to get the entire WHOisLAILO EP in order to summarize who I am as an artist.
Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?
The video is out right now on www.whoislailo.com, the idea behind it was to tell a story of a dude who is faced with financial adversity and needs to figure out the next step in order to provide for his son.
One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?
My motivation behind my music is to be the voice for the artist who works a 9-5, and trying to provide for his/her family, but wants to make that transition. The person who’s from the hood, and was exposed to the drugs, guns, and violence, but chose to go a different route when giving this platform. - iMoveiLive Online Magazine
