"A Ritmo De Cumbia"

"La Internacional Sonora Show Shows it Cares"

By Camilo Arenivar | Web Published 12.31.2005

The immensely popular La Internacional Sonora Show at http://www.sonoroashow.com will join forces with Padres Contra El Cancer, a California nonprofit corporation dedicated to offering support to Spanish-speaking families who have children with cancer in a benefit show at the world famous Conga Room in Los Angeles.

La Internacional Sonora Show was known in its beginnings as Sonora Dinamita. In 1995 it adopted the name La Internacional Sonora Show. They are formed by a professional team of singers, musicians, composers, and the entire staff of New World Productions. Its musical style is the "Colombian Cumbia," which they have recorded and performed successfully for years. The La Internacional Sonora Show rocketed to fame with their international cumbia hit “Escandalo” which to this very day is still played in many clubs and anywhere that Cumbia music is played.

The La Internacional Sonora Show has spent much of 2005 recording their new CD in the studio as well as criss-crossing the country maintaining a hectic touring schedule. Starting off the New Year with a non-profit show is something they are excited to be doing.

“The community has been very supportive of us and we look forward to giving something back, “says Kiko Vargas, Manager of La Internacional La Internacional Sonora Show.

“This is a very worthy cause,” he added.

The show is scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2006 and is going to be hosted by radio personality Nico Jones from Latino 96.3 and also feature performances by Amber Foxx and various DJ’s in different rooms. One thing that adds to the value of your $40 donation is the FREE salsa lessons from 8-9 PM, which is definitely an added bonus! All proceeds of the $40 donation go to Padres Contra El Cancer.

Padres Contra El Cancer provides services for children and families that are economically disadvantaged and predominantly Spanish-speaking. The organization is unique in that it is the only such Latino program operating in the United States. The children and families served by the program have unique needs that are not adequately addressed by mainstream cancer treatment programs.

The song Escandalo is a hit that to this very day is still played in many clubs and anywhere that Cumbia music is played. Although Escandalo is used by many others in Cumbia, its origins are with La Internacional Sonora Show. The band has very talented vocals upfront and a full orquesta supporting them: including guitars, congas, keyboards, percussion, bass, accordion, and trumpets.

With over a dozen albums under their belt, 2008 finds them releasing the most impressive collection they have had in several years. The songs are ready for radio; songs that get your hips swinging and are destined for the clubs and everywhere Latin music is played.
