Bio
La Junta is a talented group of instrumental jazz musicians that has been performing in and around the South East since 2009. As a four piece consisting of saxophone, guitar, bass, and drums their repertoire highlights the great American songbook: popular songs and showtunes of the 1930's, 40's, 50's and 60's. The members formed the group with the expressed goal of providing a musical atmosphere both sophisticated and relaxing, providing a refined accent for any occasion. They have been recognized for creating elegant sounds both understated and exciting at a variety of receptions, parties and special events since 2009 including the Hilton Head AHA's Black and White Ball, the N. Charleston Arts Festival and Bluffton's Art Walk and Winter Festivals. Their performances throughout the South Carolina low country and Savannah areas have won applause from both patrons and club owners alike. While expanding their repertoire to include more contemporary jazz standards from the likes Antonio Jobim or Miles Davis, it is the interpretation of the familiar melodies of Ellington, Porter, Gershwin and Kern that have consistently earned the group praise from its audience.
