Biography

The newest talent to electrify audiences from the vocal coaching of the famed Jan Smith Studios. Born Lakia Evonne Smith on March 8, 1991 in Detroit, MI, this dynamic singer and songwriter began creating music at the age of 9.
La’Kia (pronounced with a long i), like many soulful songstresses of our time, initiated her pursuit for music in the church choir.

After relocating to Atlanta, GA at the age of 12, La’Kia quickly advanced in her career as a member of her school’s honors chorus. With musical influences such as Aaliyah, she commands the attention and praise of audiences with her rhythmic voice and captivating dance moves. The lyrics of her music reflects the fun, teenage lifestyle she leads and the R&B beats appeal to audiences in both the under 18 and age 18-35 demographic.

At age 15, Lakia’s performance credits include continuous activity with the Union Grove High School Chorus, Union Grove Sing & Dance Team, 2004 Atlanta All-Star Talent Show, Ebony Black Family Reunion Tour and upcoming 2006 Sweet Auburn Festival and 2006 Jan Smith Talent Showcase.

La’Kia is a cross-over artist with songs ideal for R&B, Pop, and Hip/Hop formats.

Mr. Right

Written By: La'Kia Smith

Hey Mr. Right I’ve been feeling you for a while and uh...

You stay on my mind

It’s crazy ‘cause I think about you all the time
‘Cause baby when I lay my head down at night
And baby when I wake up to the morning’s light
I think you’re Mr. Right

Love couldn’t express my feelings
The way you hold me tight
I gave you all my heart and I think you’re Mr. Right

Mr. Right give me a call
Take me to the movies or to the mall
I’m feeling you, you feeling me too
I even think of you when you’re not around (2x)

I’d walk a thousand miles for a chance to just see you
I know I’m just 14 but think I’m in love with you
Imagine us two kids and a house on the hill
Don’t take this as a game my love for you is real
Love couldn’t express my feelings
The way you hold me tight
I gave you all my heart and I think you’re Mr. Right

Girlfriends

Written By: La'Kia Smith

It’s Saturday night I’m at the mall with my home girls
Going shopping with a few of my home girls
It’s our night and we want to have fun
We would have went to the club but we’re just too young
It was 7 o’clock when we pulled up in my mom’s ride
Got out in hoops, stilettos, Prada bags on our side
We looking good tonight
All these boys gone be like WHOA tonight
When they see us tonight
Alright

I got my girlfriends (with me)
My only true friends (hey hey hey)
They’re the ones that be there for me
Always have my back and got love for me (got love for me) (2x)

We going on shopping sprees
Buying jewels and everything
No one can tell us nothing
This money burning holes in our pockets
From Claire's to 579
Then the Food Court and Finish Line
It was 9 o’clock when my pulled up in the ride
9 o’clock when we kissed the mall goodbye
She said did yall have a good time
Yeah

I got my girlfriends (with me)
My only true friends (hey hey hey)
They’re the ones that be there for me
Always have my back and got love for me (got love
for me) (2x)
