Bio
The newest talent to electrify audiences from the vocal coaching of the famed Jan Smith Studios. Born Lakia Evonne Smith on March 8, 1991 in Detroit, MI, this dynamic singer and songwriter began creating music at the age of 9.
LaKia (pronounced with a long i), like many soulful songstresses of our time, initiated her pursuit for music in the church choir.
After relocating to Atlanta, GA at the age of 12, LaKia quickly advanced in her career as a member of her schools honors chorus. With musical influences such as Aaliyah, she commands the attention and praise of audiences with her rhythmic voice and captivating dance moves. The lyrics of her music reflects the fun, teenage lifestyle she leads and the R&B beats appeal to audiences in both the under 18 and age 18-35 demographic.
At age 15, Lakias performance credits include continuous activity with the Union Grove High School Chorus, Union Grove Sing & Dance Team, 2004 Atlanta All-Star Talent Show, Ebony Black Family Reunion Tour and upcoming 2006 Sweet Auburn Festival and 2006 Jan Smith Talent Showcase.
LaKia is a cross-over artist with songs ideal for R&B, Pop, and Hip/Hop formats.
