Bio

Founded in May 2003, following the fusion of diverse projects, the band celebrated its first concert in July; the product of long jam sessions characterized by a frenetic energy that combusts on and off the stage. The group’s concert schedule was equally intense with close to 100 appearances in less than a year, fifty percent of which have been outside of Spain, where the group performed mostly in France, Italy and Belgium, but also in Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland.

Following the widespread impact of their first demo, for which they won the international demo competition in 2003, sponsored by radiochango.com and Radio France International, the group released its first CD in September 2004, produced by Kasba Music and titled “Made in Barna”. The CD included 15 tracks which range between rock steady, reggae, punk and the more savage side of “mestiza” music, produced by Stephane Carteaux (pruducer of Cheb Balowski and Trimelón, among others), together with David Bourguignon (musician who has also performed periodically with La Kinky) and the group. The collaborators on the CD were friends, like the above mentioned David (guitar) and Arecio Smith (keyboards) –who played for some months live shows with the band after this collaboration too-, Petete (trombone), Yacine (Cheb Balowski), Gambeat (Radio Bemba) and Muchachito (Trimelón).

Their live concerts vibrate; built on frenetically paced, uninterrupted playing and ardent interpretations of songs, energized by rock steady, reggae and a mix of high intensity punk rock. Highlights on the tour of the album (another 100 gigs in one year) include the band´s participation in the Tropicana Beach in Bassecourt, Switzerland (December 2004), La Pleine Lune Festival in Alzonne, France (March 2005), Viña Rock Festival in Villarobledo, Spain (April 2005), Al Kultur Pur in Siegen, Germany (May 2005), Zolks Festival in Venlo, the Netherlands (June 2005), Couleur Café in Brussels, Belgium, and Falun Folk in Falun, Sweden, (July 2005), Ritmi Etnici, in Tortoreto, Italy, BAM in Barcelona, Spain, and La Feria in Beziers, France (August 2005).

In September 2005 they released a remix CD (“RMX”, Kasba Music 2005), which includes some songs of the first album remixed by different artists as Fermin Muguruza, Rudeman or DJ Panko, and the same musicians of La Kinky.

In November and December 2005 they worked again at Kasba Studio, this time with Tomas Arroyos “Tomasin” (Mano Negra, Color Humano, Dusminguet…) as producer and in February 2006 Kasba Music released their second full new album “One more time” which includes 13 great songs from reggae to punk through jungle and other black music influences with lirycs in English, Spanish and Italian. The new album presented DJ Rudeman from Bologna (Italy) as new band member who increased the energy and the electronic side of the live shows.

The tour, called “One more tour 06”, included 93 gigs in 10 months (from March to December) with concerts in Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, Italy and Mexico, in venues and festivals as Womex (Sevilla), Mundial (Balen, Belgium), Babel Med (Marseille, France), Paaspop (Schijndel, Netherlands), Maailma Kylassa (Helsinki, Finland), Terre de Couleurs (Daumazan, France), or Latinoamericando (Milano, Italy).

The band has continued touring this year with the “One more No Sponsors tour 07” and have played again all around Europe (Madrid, Brussel, Berlin, Stockholm, Actual Festival in Spain, , Glastonbury, Rio Loco in Toulouse, Territorios in Sevilla, Dour in Belgium, Lowlands in the Netherlands) but also in Mexico (where a compilation of the first three years of the band has been released in January 2007 through “Grabaxiones Alicia”) where the band played at Ollinkan Festival in DF and Brazil (where the band played at Porto Musical in Recife).

17th March 2008 is the release date of the new album, “Karate Beat”, published again by Kasba Music, produced by Chalart58, drummer of the band, which includes 13 new songs of kinky style, drum’n’bass, jungles and break beat rhythms versus reggae groove and punk energy. The new “Karate World Tour 08” will start in March 28th in Barcelona and will continue the next two months through Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels and many different cities.
