Lyrics

Four (I don't want you closer)

Written By: Rob Deurenberg

I don’t, I don’t want you closer now
I don’t, I don’t want you closer now

four on the floor
four in my face
your fourth pretty mistress
four times replaced

four years deception
fourth overdue bill
four baby girls
means four times the thrill

I don’t want you closer now

four duffel bags
the four o'clock train
four aching lies
is four times the pain

four angry parents
a four letter curse
four stupid fights
you make it four times worse

I don’t want you closer now

four times the truth
I see four times the light
tossing till four
the fourth restless night

I don’t, I don’t want you closer now
I don’t
I don’t, I don’t want you closer now
I don’t

SAX SOLO

four on the floor
four in my face
my fourth pretty mistress
you've been four times replaced

four duffel bags
I take the four o'clock train
four aching lies
is four times the pain
four brutal lies
it feels like pouring rain
I told you many times
I don’t want you closer now

Song for Gowri

Written By: Rob Deurenberg

the smell of golden leaves
the wind that breathes
you miss the autumn
I miss you

when rain turns into snow
the christmas tree aglow
you dream of winter
I dream of you

feeling restless
don’t know where this leads
my heart skips a few more beats
tossing and turning
I miss your smile
I wish I could hold you for a while

when flowers reach out to the sun
a new day has just begun
and as you long for spring
I long for you

SOLOS

feeling restless
don’t know where this leads
my heart skips a few more beats
tossing and turning
I miss your smile
I wish I could hold you for a while

when flowers smile and embrace the sun
a new day has just begun
and as you think of spring
do think of me

Why

Written By: Rob Deurenberg

why feel so low?
got a gun but don’t dare to blow
why build up rage?
try my best to be a man, a sage

why this condition?
feel like an empty shell with thwarted ambitions
why so bitter sweet?
the world I believed in is different indeed

one more scar
(deep into a hole, my lights are dimming
on the dole but I can’t stop digging)
one more scar
(deep into a hole, my lights are dimming
on the dole but I can’t stop digging)

Joy

Written By: Rob Deurenberg

joy, joy, joy
can you feel the joy
joy, joy, joy
can you feel it? I feel joy

alone and unprepared
did not know that someone cared
I battled winters
I pushed the hours
how could I know that the future was ours

the sun goes up
you are here
bright teardrops
I want you near

joy, joy, joy
all I feel is joy
joy, joy, joy

hard times litter my doorstep
with grief and pain
I need to sort out my memory lane
take of and run
duck and hide
will courage lift me up
and change the tide

the sun is up
you are here
bright teardrops
because you’re near

joy, joy, joy
all I feel is joy
joy, joy, joy

(I live for you)
you’re the only one that I could live for
(I stand by you)
I stand by you you stand by me
(I’d die for you)
you’re the only one that I could die for
(I live for you)
I love you to

joy, joy, joy
all I feel is joy
joy, joy, joy

That Man was Me

Written By: Rob Deurenberg

I met a stranger
a victim of the past
who lived in memories
couldn’t see the ‘tomorrow sunrise’
he goes through his ever lasting night

always traveling
he grinds from town to town
never had the strength to settle down
running laps cannot finish
running away from his restless soul

yesterday I found out
that the stranger that I met
the dreamer that I met
that man was the shadow of me

I met this man in doubt
he couldn’t handle his foggy mind
his head up in the clouds
didn’t see the time passing by
didn’t hear the music change

yesterday I found out
that the stranger that I met
the dreamer that I met
the man was a reflection of me
that man was me
