"Lam!Lam!"

On Thursday I caught a show that I have been meaning to see for ages, and as it was at the [ahem] classy Sirens Lounge and I didn't really have an excuse as it is within spitting distance of my house. It was infamous LAM!LAM!, who are reportedly the worst thing to happen to music ever! But they do have a drinking solution, so don't be put off. I have to warn you before you listen to the songs, that they are bloody catchy and will stick in your head like a sickly sweet aftertaste.

Lam lam who is also known as Betsy and is one of the funniest people I have met in Dirty D. She like PBR and Jarvis Cocker so we get along just great. - Bob @ I think I'm going to Carolina (http://adventuresincarolina.blogspot.com)

"The Beat Goes On"

Now in Lam! Lam! she is in control and her voice will hook you in with her sugary-sweet voice. Don't be scared by that last statement. She is a smart woman and she balances the sweetness with some moments of existential angst. There is nothing like sounds of strife to make the music so much more visceral. The song "Immer So" truly makes me miss the days of Blackstrap's old school punk.

In Lam! Lam! Betsy Shane has moved out of the pandemonium and grown into a foxy singer who is attempting to bridge that gap between rock music and dance music. In true Durham, NC, fashion she is showing that here in Durham, people are willing to really experiment and revel in their quirkiness. - Pineview @ Quick, Like A Bunny (http://quicklikeabunnyreviews.blogspot.com)

Bio

Once upon a time, there was a girl who was in an indie rock band. They were a good little indie rock band and opened for national touring acts, put out a CD, and toured the east coast. She liked being in an indie rock band, but the sweetest bad girl in the Triangle indie rock circut, the sassy, gutsy, bossy, rambunctious little LAM! LAM! could not be just another indie rock bassist.

Out of the rubble of the Relatively Calm, Betsy Shane has stepped up to create a simultaneously adorable and perverse blend of rock and dance music. Heavily influenced by the likes of Chicks on Speed, Le Tigre and Miss TK and the Revenge, LAM! LAM! chews up your subconscious desires and spits them back at you with a sassy uhn-tiss uhn-tiss uhn-tiss. This is sexuality, served up raw with a coy smile. It's sex dance and rock and roll with a conscience but without shame. LAM! LAM!'s first shows were awarded to her on the merit of her songwriting alone, based solely off the recording of "Abend." The shows are evolving into a spectacle that draws the audience to participate through handclaps, singalongs, costumes and duets.

LAM! LAM! is a prolific songwriter and is currently hard at work recording a mess of songs for her debut album.
