I started singing in the church at a very early age. Being so young I did not realize my talent was a gift from God nor did I understand the plan that he had for my life. As a young man I had the opportunity to open at a concert for Gospel Diva Shirley Caesar. I had the same normal life of any young person, I attended elementary school and excelled in sports and performing arts and mastered several instruments.

I began singing professionally in my teen years, using my talent for secular entertainment and totally going against God’s will. By my senior year in high school I was known as a professional lyricist. During this time, I played the role of the “Prodigal Son” and totally immersed myself into the R&B entertainment industry. I traveled extensively, and throughout this time I lived the life of a “rock star”(part of “My Story”) however, I still felt a tug from God and many times while on tour, I would retreat to my room to read my bible. I was even signed to a major label with Andre Harrell and Babyface of Interscope/Nu American Records.

After pursuing this lifestyle for years, I finally answered the call from God, yielded to his will and walked away from the world of R&B. God began to speak to me and show me what he had birthed for years was a family orchestrated group. Some people would call it luck, but others know it was God’s divine plan that my mother would birth, myself along with my siblings all with the ability to sing. So I declared to my family (Rachel, Cleve, & Dee), that I wasn’t going backwards and that there was only one way to live and that’s how we formed the group Lamont Sanders and One Way. We’ve shared stages with, Martha Munnuzi, Michael McDonald, KiKi Sheard, and Tye Tribbett, just to name a few. We’ve had the privilege to perform at the Indianapolis Black Expo, and the Charlie Mack Celebrity weekend. As a group, we believe in family ministry and we share this ministry wherever we go. We travel worldwide, from churches to street corners, from prisons to hospitals; spreading God’s love.

I recently formed my entertainment company Kingdom Takeover Worldwide; dedicated to the advancement of performing arts, education, mentoring; and grooming the next generation of entertainers. I’ve learned that your past does not dictate your future. I thank God for allowing me to overcome many obstacles and showing me that all things are possible through him.
