"Every time Lance records I'm amazed by his songwriting output and his great ear for putting together good sounding tunes. His dedication to music is paying off and this album shows it!"

"Benson's Back"

Local singer/songwriter Lance Benson will celebrate his latest album with a CD release party in downtown Bemidji.

His fifth album is titled “Mornings & Afternoons” and will be commemorated with a party at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Chief Theater of the Paul Bunyan Playhouse.

“I wanted this effort to be a roller coaster, to have a four-piece band on a song, then break it down to just me and my guitar, then the next one (would) maybe have a shaker, and build from there,” Benson said in a press release. “(I wanted to) take the listener on a ride with highs and lows. We captured exactly what I was looking for.”

“Mornings & Afternoons” was recorded by Gary Burger in June and features Benson and many guest musicians.

Tickets for the CD release party are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. They went on sale Oct. 1 and are available at Brigid’s Cross Irish Pub, KRKB Music Outlet, and Overbeek Electronics & Music. More information about tickets and upcoming show dates is available online at lancebenson.com.

Benson’s past albums include “M.E.” (released in 1998), “What to Say” (1999), “World to Me” (2000) and “Gestures” (2002).

Between albums, Benson has gone on tour, including stints following the release of “World to Me” and “Gestures.” In 2000-01, he logged more than 40,000 miles as he took his music on the road.

“I love the aspect of touring; having a gig to get to is a beautiful thing,” he said in a news release. “I love checking into my hotel or campsite, dinner before the show, the sound check, and most of all, performing for new friends.”

Bio

Lance Benson has been pouring his emotions, thoughts, and soul into his music since the early age of 15. Now at the age of 27 Lance says that although his music career has exceeded all expectations he has no plans of stopping now. His songs have been created through personal experiences and observations of the world around him. Benson's inspiration arises from the common bond he creates between his listeners and himself. His greatest satisfaction is from the feedback of listeners that have personally related to his music. 2007 brought a new years resolution for Lance, to release a new album!! Lance's new album captures the full band sound, with many broke down songs as well. "I made a rule when I was in the studio, no electric guitars! It was tempting but I stuck to the plan. I wanted this effort to be a rollercoaster, to have a four piece band on a song then break it down to just me and my guitar, then the next one maybe have a shaker, and build from there. Take the listener on a ride with highs & lows. We captured exactly what I was looking for."
