Lands on Fire

Lands on Fire

 San Diego, California, USA
BandRockAlternative

Lands On Fire's sound can be best described as folk music on steroids and carries a message of genuine concern. Songs about self-righteous ideologist leaders, over population, and orphans of the war torn 3rd world countries. Lands On Fire gives us a much needed wake-up call.

Biography

Surrounded by a homogeneous San Diego music scene, this career minded band was intent on developing something new. They spent nearly a year writing and developing their sound, building songs around human stories of our time. The band’s self-titled debut album “Lands on Fire” was released in May of 2008 and immediately following they signed with LA based independent record label Fallen Angel Records. The album's single "Too Many People" is being played on the local shows on the San Diego alternative rock stations 949 and 91X as well as numerous internet radio stations.

Coming from extremely diverse musical backgrounds, but sharing a passion for hard driving progressive rock’n'roll, Lands on Fire has truly developed their own sound among a crowded rock landscape. Their music brings to the stage stories of human struggle fused with an explosive mixture of pounding beats, driving bass-lines and blistering guitars layered by Chris' soaring vocals. Lands on Fire has been described as folk music on steroids with each song telling a story. Feel the intensity and shear energy of tracks like War Orphan and Too Many People or the anguish of Medicate to Separate.

Void of cliché and showmanship, but loaded with passion and sincerity, Lands on Fire will be bringing their brand of rock’n ‘roll to a stage near you soon. See you there!

Lyrics

Medicate to Seperate

Written By: Chris Carignan

Today, I heard the news
You were feeling unstable
While your eyes
Refuse to show you happiness
The kind you've never known

So you medicate yourself
The best that you can
The separation begins again

You say
That you found a place
A place of salvation in this world
Somewhere where you feel safe
And all your troubles can be forgotten

So you medicate yourself
The best that you can
The separation begins again
So you crawl inside
Lay down your weary head
The separation begins again
It's your one and only friend

Your staring down
The barrel of a loaded gun
Your fingers on the trigger
It's painless it's quick
Nobody needs to know
Where you are going
You've lost your way
On this lonely road you ride
When these ups and downs they come around
You run and hide

Its' the life that you lead
That's gonna bring you down
You've got to stay positive
It's the life that you lead
That's gonna bring you down
Won't you listen to me
Won't you put the bottle down
Your medication is wearing heavy
So heavy
So heavy

Endless Line

Written By: Chris Carignan

Well I’ve been here
Been through this before
Couldn’t tell ya where I came from
But I should tell ya where I’m going

Don’t know! Don’t know!
If I’ll ever make it there
Because this road I’m traveling
It’s got a mind of its own

We run in circles
An endless line

I’ve been lost for a while
Lost in translation
I’ve been up and down this boulevard
Looking for my destination

Don’t know! Don’t know!
If I’ll ever make it home
Because this road I’m traveling
It’s got a mind of its own

We run in circles
An endless line

I call it war
And I’m fighting myself
It’s me against the world and nobody else
I’ve got fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight to the end
I discipline myself this time around
Well I’ll be coming around again

Call It What You Will

Written By: Chris Carignan

Clouds are breaking
And I, I can see you off in the distance
You look different than the way they said you would
You’re weak enough to break
Perhaps you never will

Some they say
That your scientific speculation
While others say
That you’re still a mystery

We continue
To strip and scrap you for no concern for what is taken
Ain’t it a shame how your just about to break
And we’re the ones who will help you to

Well it’s alright
You can call it what you will
Well it’s ok
There’s one thing for sure

You’re the death
That we fear the most
The death
That we all fear
Some day somehow somebody’s gonna let you down
When it comes, it’ll be too late to help

Addictions

Written By: Chris Carignan

I'm living in temptation
Can't leave it alone
Everyday its a new sensation
Its my addiction and I can't leave it alone

Its for you
Its for me

It's what I use to keep me hanging on
It's what I use to numb the anger
Everytime it's a new sensation
Its my addiction and I can't leave you alone

Its what I use
Its what I need

In this uncertainty
I need something to believe
Something with no strings attaching
Something everlasting
One taste is not enough
One touch leaves me wanting more
And more is what I need
In this uncertainty

Its my addiction and I can't leave it alone

Its for you
Its for me
Its what I use
Its what I need

Strange Land

Written By: Chris Carignan

Welcome little one to this strange land
Won't you be patient, you're safe for a while
Pretty soon the world will try to break you
Both inside and out
It'll find its way inside you
And you'll never get it out

So watch where you go and what you do

Take this as a warning
Its the only one you'll get
This is a warning
From a friend to a friend

So watch where you go and what you do
'Cause people, everyday people they're watching you
And there's poison in the rain
So don't drink from the well my son there's poison

Its coming down hard

Welcome little one to this strange land
Someday, this world will get you
Someday, and you'll never get it out

So watch where you go and what you do
Cause people, everyday people they're watching you
And there's poison in the rain
So don't drink from the well my son there's poison

Its coming down hard
Lord, its coming down
