Bio

Lanny Hattbaugh: Singer-Songwriter(BMI) - Lanny’s love for country music began at a very young age. Born the sixth of seven children, he was raised by his mother with little or no help. Lanny said, “We were poor, but basically happy, and talk about unconditional love, we sure had it! I think all of us kid’s appreciate things that we have today just a little more than we would if we had been more fortunate”. Lanny’s song “Lucky Seven” tells a story of his early childhood and his relationship with his family today. His song “Angel’s Name is Mom” (2006 “Two Thumbs Up” CD) tells of a mother’s love and kindness. At the age of 11, brothers Steve and Barry saved up twenty-five dollars from “catch’n chickens” and bought a brand-new Harmony arch-top guitar. It fast became a prized possession. Along with his brothers, Lanny learned to play that guitar. Music has been a part of his life ever since. Today, Lanny writes “from the heart” country songs with his traditional country roots and contemporary blues and rock influences. Lanny’s edgy lyrics come from a lifetime of loves, heartaches and stories from the road. Lanny says, “Country has always been number one for me, but I really love the blues. Lanny’s songs range from gripping ballads to sassy satire. Lanny plays with a regionally popular five-piece country band where Lanny frequently fields requests for his originals. Sometimes he is asked “whose song is that, I’ve heard it on the country radio before.” Lanny said: “I love to perform for the crowd, but the most gratifying thing is to touch people’s emotions with my songs.” Lanny just released his much anticipated, freshman CD “Two Thumbs Up” on the CTR Music label in December of 2006. JUST THE FACTS:
(This is my story and I'm stick'in to it)
Lanny has lived in Southern Indiana all of his life. His home in Salem is nestled in the heart of Southern Indiana’s rolling hills. The rich family and cultural life of this patch of rural America has shaped Lanny’s experiences and music in a way only his lyrics can describe. Lanny has been a touring musician since his early teens and has spent many a year on the road. But to quote Lanny, “Some how I always end up back here”.
