Whether in a piano bar on a cruise ship or at a singer songwriter venue, I strive to be better than I use to be.

Biography

Larry has been entertaining since he can remember. Born into a musical family in Philadelphia, he naturally followed his gift. “I was genetically predisposed to be a musician” After earning a degree in Music performance from the University of the Arts, he hit the road, with some lengthy stops in Los Angeles (Dante’s), Las Vegas (Ceasar's), Reno (Fitzgerald’s Hotel), Lake Tahoe (Harvey’s Casino), Hilton Head Island (Beachfront Hyatt Hotel), and of course, many more….and then off to Europe where he worked a full season, plus the summer with Opera Barga, in Florence Italy. From there he returned to Los Angeles, where he spent several years as a studio musician, and dueling piano performer, but then hit the road again, only this time, the road was an ocean. He has spent the last several years, cruising the world, playing piano bars on a number of Holland America ships, and more recently for Carnival cruise lines, as well as being a sought after solo pianist in New York, performing often on Embassy Row, as he has become a favorite at embassy functions, where his diverse repertoire and sense of humor have proven great assets. He has successful extended engagements in Las Vegas, Ireland and Denmark, receiving high praise from both audience and press alike for his singer / songwriter performances. For the past 4 years, Larry has been performing on for the Carnival Cruise Line as a Piano Bar Soloist.

My Miracle

I'm not the kind believes in miracles in life
This feelings not what
I always seem to find
And I don't know what to do with the miracle that I found with you
You're my life, my reason, you're my passion it's my season

You're my miracle,
You're my story
You're the love that has been waiting out there for me
I don't know what to say to you
I hope you feel the same way too
I want you to be near
So I can tell you how I feel, and

I love you,
You're my teacher,
I've waited all my life to finally reach you
You have filled my heart with song
It's been silent for so long
But suddenly see that I've found my symphony

Life is strange, I wasn't looking for this twist
I frankly felt love was a lonely person's wish
To follow in the script
A story never meant to fit
My story now has changed seems the perfect ending came

You're my miracle,
You're my story
You're the love that has been waiting out there for me
I don't know what to say to you
I hope you feel the same way too
I want you to be near
So I can tell you how I feel, dear

I love you,
You're my teacher,
I've waited all my life to finally reach you
You have filled my heart with song
It's been silent for so long
But suddenly see that I've found my symphony

County Antrim

County Antrim

One day a young man left the old country
To find a better way
He left his possessions and family behind him
And said he would come back some day

He made a new life for himself in his new land
By doing the best that he could
He knew he would never return to his homeland
But he never stopped wishing he could

He wanted his children to see County Antrim
And look off the hills far away
And think of their father who left his own county
And said he would come back someday

The years came and went and that young man did prosper
He married and his children played
As his children grew up, he made sure that he told them
Of the hills in his home far away

He wanted his children to see County Antrim
And look off the hills far away
And think of their father who left his own county
And said he would come back someday

Now I tell my children of the man from Ireland
And the families that came in between
I wonder if they understand what has happened
In a land that they still haven't seen

Now I can’t do much about ancient injustice
And the power that politics plays
But I’m feeling an urge to return to the country
And the land where my ancestors stayed

Now I want my children to see County Antrim
And look off the hills far away
And think of the old man who left his own county
And said he would come back someday

Now I want my children to see County Antrim

Give Me Some Hope

Give Me Some Hope
© 2005 Lawrence Stewart Maconaghy BMI

I don’t care if you don’t give me heaven.
I don’t care if you just give me hell
I don’t care if you’re mean to my face
I don’t care ‘cause I forget real well

I said I’ll love you till the day that I die dear
I’ll find a way so that I know I can cope
I don’t need much, just this one thing I wish
Don’t need no promises just give me some hope

Give me some hope so I don’t lose my spirit
It’s my addiction yea it’s kind of my dope
I know some people they might say that I’m crazy
No contradictions here baby give me some hope

I used to think that I needed nobody
The last man standing when the couples would sit
I used to say love would never surround me
I’d be alone, but didn’t matter a bit

Sometimes I try, but it doesn’t just come out right
(I) think I’m funny but it isn’t a joke
Make no mistake, the only one thing I need
Not food or shelter, baby give me some hope

Give me some hope so I don’t lose my spirit
It’s my addiction yea it’s kind of my dope
I know some people they might say that I’m crazy
No contradictions here baby give me some hope

No pressure really I know you aren’t ready
To say the kind of words I’m longin’ to hear
So just for now I’m happy to have you near me
I reach for you and I know that you are near

I love our life, but you know we lack commitment
No future promises no plans to evoke
I’d wait my lifetime just to hear an “I do” dear
Maybe not today, but give me some hope

Give me some hope so I don’t lose my spirit
It’s my addiction yea it’s kind of my dope
I know some people they might say that I’m crazy
No contradictions here baby give me some hope

Slipped and Fell In Love

Slipped And Fell In Love

Trust me, let’s jump off this cliff
Let’s risk it all right now
Let’s take a leap of faith today
And show them we know how

Let’s walk the tight high wire
Without fear and with no net
Believe we are invincible
The ones to win the bet

I’ll show you we can beat the odds
We’re champions today
The pair that wins the race that can’t be won
We’ll never fall or stumble
As all others fade away
We won the day we slipped and fell in love

I know that some folks like to say
Good things come to and end
They live their lives determined
To stay rigid never bend

They’ll never know the joy
Of being right there up on top
As the finish line grows closer
They pull up and holler “stop”

I’ll show you we can beat the odds
We’re champions today
The pair that wins the race that can’t be won
We’ll never fall or stumble
As all others fade away
We won the day we slipped and fell in love

We slipped and fell in love
And I will not regret the fall
Suspended animation at its best
I’ve never been victorious
Love’s let me down before
But now we’re flying high above the rest

How do we keep this ship afloat
How have we come this far
The odds were quite against us
But we grabbed our shooting star

Be it passion, or conviction
Some say love can conquer all
I might have said it wasn’t true
But now I’ve felt the fall

I’ll show you we can beat the odds
We’re champions today
The pair that wins the race that can’t be won
We’ll never fall or stumble
As all others fade away
We won the day we slipped and fell in love

Set List

Original songs, as well as a few very unique versions of classic rock covers.

The following is a list of songs I do in my piano bar gigs. The actual set lists are driven by audience participation, requests and at times, some good humor. I will do any song, anywhere, anytime. The following list is performed without sheet music. I wouldn't want to go to a play and watch the actors read off a script...so why would anyone want watch me read music? So while I can read the classics, I perform with my wits.

The Ever Growing Partial List:

100 Years
A Foggy Day
A Heartache Tonight
A Night In Tunisia
A Nightingale Sang In Barclay Square
A Song For You
A Whiter Shade Of Pale
Adam's Family
After The Lovin
After You
Against All Odds
Ain't Gonna Let You Break My Heart Again
Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Ain't Too Proud to Beg
All Along The Watchtower
All By Myself
All I Ask Of You
All I Do
All In Love Is Fair
All Of Me
All That Crying
All The Things You Are
