Ghost of a Chance

Written By: Laurence Rosennberg

GHOST OF A CHANCE

Hey, can I have this dance
Have I a ghost of a chance with you in love
Is this just circumstance
‘Cause I’m caught in a trance when I look in you eyes

It took me so long to find you here
Starting out from nowhere
This dream I’ve been chasing someday I will make it my own
Baby I’d fly to the sun for you
Fly to the moon it’s true
And sail to Bolivia if I could go with you alone

So my baby won’t you
Take off you your evening coat
Sit back and just take note of what I’m saying to you
Don’t throw away romance
Give me a ghost of a chance with you in love
Give me a ghost of a chance with you in love

Picture a paradise
Oysters, champagne on ice in Rio, sailing on the sea
Paris is also nice
When you enjoy a slice of heaven, with me

It took me so long to find you here…

Blue Horizon

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

BLUE HORIZON

What ever happened to the Blue Horizon
How did we let it slip away
What ever happened to our Blue Horizon
I thought it was here to stay

What ever happened to those Sunday mornings
We’d laugh and sip wine through the day
Now we just say hi in the morning
And then we go our ways

But when I touch you I see only heaven’s eyes
Smiling down upon me from above
And when I touch you I see only heaven’s eyes
And then I know that I’m in love

We’d hit the street fairs when we were starting
Invade the village every night
Love fits so nicely in New York City
Especially by candlelight

But these days we don’t hold conversations
Unless we’re planning out the day
It’s fair to say that we’ve become stangers
Two spirits drifting away

Still when I touch you ….

Musical Bridge

Still when I touch you ….

The Promises of Yesterday's Dreams

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

THE PROMISES OF YESTERDAY’S DREAMS

It’s a quarter to nine and I’m feeling fine
Tequila visions crowd my mind
Another pint of memories now
Before we run out of steam
And at a quarter to ten
It starts over again
It’s clear to me the message my friend
The time has come to fine tune the promises of yesterday’s dreams

You know I could have been a hot shot undercover agent
Investigating murders by the rivers and streams
Or just some ordinary dignitary
With the ways and the means to divide the extremes
The truth may be so, it never may go, …
But without trying then how can I know
The time has come to fine tune the promises of yesterday’s dreams
The time has come to fine tune the promises of yesterday’s dreams

Have you heard the big news
It’s just been approved
The world will wake up to a new groove
The record’s gonna be a big hit, gonna go all the way
Got some people to thank
Put some cash in the bank
We’re going far so fill up the tank
Work on my golf swing
Maybe sleep in all day

You know….

Musical Bridge

You know….

A Galaxy of Our Own

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

A GALAXY OF OUR OWN

Take me to your planet, I’m a pioneer
I ‘m planning an experiment in love
Identify my subject, then I disappear
To navigate our journey above

Nothing to keep us girl from lifting away
Independent from our earthly moorings here today
In ship shiny and brand new
I’ll be flying right beside you
In a galaxy all of our own

Check the cabin pressure, move up on the dial
The tv folks are starting to move in
Loud are all these rockets, higher do we climb
This adventure about to begin

Nothing to keep us girl ……

Tumbling, we’re freely tumbling, it’s really quite a view
Gazing at all of this wonder, planets with shades of blue, shades of blue
Tethered to a thin wire, space walking makes no sound
Waiting for something to take me, take me to a higher ground

Instrumental Bridge

Circling in an orbit at the speed of sound
Anchored by the force of gravity
We are led by reason, but we are moved by love
The only thing that truly sets us free

Nothing to keep us girl …

The Color of My Heart

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

THE COLOR OF MY HEART

Drenched in rain, soaked to skin
There’s so many things to do before it gets too dark
And things start to slow down
Hurry here and there, hurry to nowhere
Soon night will lay its head upon this town

Can’t you see by the tree
There’s a single mother trying so faithfully to climb
The same hills every day
Has she company, does she feel like me
Does she hope to find someone someday

In this new game called melancholy
Here I stand practicing my part
Will there be, will there be, room for someone like me
Or will blue remain the color of my heart

On a night long ago
In the quietest place so filled with memories
Of years gone by
To myself I say, she’ll come back someday
And bring back days of happiness again

But the vision is gone and the loneliness,
The loneliness, comes back to haunt me
Time and time again
Got to get away, forget yesterday
And bring that smile back from where it has been

In this new game…..

Musical Bridge

In this new game…..

Devil's End

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

DEVIL’S END

Well it was just around my 22nd birthday
That I felt that it was time to settle down
Find a girl and set a course out for my lifetime
To be a big fish in a bigger one horse town
So I gathered up all my sundry belongings
And I set out from my home in Tennessee
Looking far and looking wide
Casting all my doubts aside
It seemed that this was just the thing for me

My journey took me to the Colorado Valley
In which parts the mountains fairly scrape the sky
It’s a fact a honest man can catch religion
When he sees an eagle flying by
Came across a lost posse of weekend hikers
And I spotted a fair maiden in the fray
Said she going to Hollywood
and she wondered if I could
accompany her part or all of the way

And though your crystal ball may carry you from one frame to the next
The story might be interrupted by some things you don’t expect
The train you took to Denver stopped somewhere in South Bend
And left you standing here at Devil’s End

She had a smile that could light a row of candles
And a naughty kind of sparkle in her eye
We spent all of our mornings guest of mother nature
And the evenings we watched the stars go by
Hopped a ride upon a friendly 18 wheeler
Until the lights of Pasadena were in range
Found a love nest with a view
Till she saw some friends she knew
And that’s when that girl started to act strange

And though your crystal ball may carry you from one frame to the next
The story might be interrupted by some things you don’t expect
The train you took to Denver stopped somewhere in South Bend
And left you standing here at devil’s end

She was attracted to the nightlife and the glitter
And the thought that she might be part of the scene
She seemed to lose all of her taste for home made dinner
But she acquired a taste for limosines
If you ever chase a girl to California
Then be sure to enjoy your life thouroughly
Running here and running there
On some roads that lead nowhere..
And meet the strangest folks you’ll ever see

Well our romance started unraveling quite slowly
From the moment that we started to lose touch
It’s not that I did not forsee this complication
I just didn’t think the pain would be that much
You see one sunny morning my mind got to thinking
That she’ d been planning her adventure all along
So I picked up there and then
Headed out to Devil’s End
Still reeling from the girl who did me wrong

And though your crystal ball may carry you from one frame to the next
The story might be interrupted by some things you don’t expect
The train you took to Denver stopped somewhere in South Bend
And left you standing here at devil’s end

And though your crystal ball may carry you from one frame to the next
The story might be interrupted by some things you don’t expect
And just because the train to Denver stopped somewhere in South Bend
It doesn’t mean your dream has got to end, no, no
It doesn’t mean your dream has got to end

Let's Give It a Try

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

LET’S GIVE IT A TRY

Once by a stream, a wise man did dream
His visions had color and sound
He gathered his friends, and counselling them
Declared that true love could be found

So let’s give it a try
We really have got to make haste
The language you’re speaking is what I’ve been seeking
So we’ve not a moment to waste

Let’s give it a try
I know we will be happy too
They say that romance is about taking chances
And I’ll take my chances with you

Life is an ocean with miles of space
A multitude of things to do
But the distance between every creature is great
And so they remain strangers too

Let’s give it a try
You know you have nothing to lose
The person inside you is feeling like I do
It does not make sense to refuse

Musical Bridge..

Life is an ocean with miles of space
A multitude of things to do
But the distance between every creature is great
And so they remain strangers too
And so we remain strangers too
And so they remain strangers too
A trip needs just one soul but a journey requires two

Let’s give it a try
Time’s winged chariot is near
The gifts that life gives you are truly very few
So don’t let this gift disappear..

Finally

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

FINALLY

One day you will find you’ll open up your mind and suddenly music is heard
Communication is only for the lonely, we speak without using words
Telepathically inclined we’re better than online cause we speak the language of love
I can’t supply a translation, articulation, to thing I’m speaking of

When I was looking down that lonely hall of time
An open door I spotted in the distance
I planned as carefully as I would plan a crime
To steal something belonged to me

And what I found, finally, finally with some help from up above
What I found, finally, finally what I found was love

My tale is haunted but moving undaunted I searched every night every day
Dodging these flashes of lighting, mad creatures fighting people that got in their way
In these clubs I would travel adventures unravel keeping the timid at bay
But then I saw in the distance, with some insistance, what would befall me that day

Approaching faster chasing people racing time,
The crowd at home was steeped in all the action
Some found their dream and others capsized along the way
And cursed the challenge as they waved good bye

And what I found, finally, finally with some help from up above
What I found, finally, finally what I found was love

Because of You

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

BECAUSE OF YOU

Because of you there is one thing of which I’m really sure
For this condition love is surely the cure
And to a casual observer I must look drunk with wine
Speaking intermittently in rhyme
And can you hear the sound, oh and it’s calling, calling right out to you
When you speak music to my ears my thoughts become rather unclear
Oh and it’s calling, calling right out to you
Hoping that you feel the same way too

Because of you windmills will turn around
Because of you, my baby, life is calling
Because of you there is no question at all
You see we fit together fine….in my mind

Because of you I am trying to keep my focus on
All the things I need to do just to get along
And all through the day I see you here in my mind’s eye
And I float off just like a butterfly
And can you hear the sound, oh and it’s calling, calling right out to you
When you speak music to my ears my thoughts become rather unclear
Oh and it’s calling, calling right out to you
Hoping that you feel the same way too

Because of you windmills will turn around
Because of you, my baby, life is calling
Because of you there is no question at all
You see we fit together fine….in my mind

Bridge….

Because of you windmills will turn around
Because of you, my baby, life is calling
Because of you there is no question at all
You see we fit together fine….in my mind

Speeding 22

Written By: Laurence Rosenberg

SPEEDING TWENTY TWO

Dreaming, no you’re not dreaming, it’s Sunday morning and you don’t know where you are
Better get moving, got to find some coffee, hopefully you won’t have to go too far
Last nite there was a party, ran ‘till half past three, the interstate’s still shaking from the sound
And you were spotted just around the break of dawn in the company of someone that you found

Baby Baby,Baby Baby, finally on your own
Baby Baby,Baby Baby, living in the danger zone
You know your wheels are swiftly turning, better keep your brakes in view
Baby Baby,Baby Baby , girl what are you gonna do, Speeding Twenty two

Today it’s quiet, the store is empty , and you got to make some plans for tonite
There’s a new club, just around the corner, word is that the place is out of site
Chronologically speaking it wasn’t too far back, that you were jumping rope in middle school
Always the wandering wolf you’ve found a new terrain, and now you’re spinning like a top out of control

Baby Baby,Baby Baby, finally on your own
Baby Baby,Baby Baby,Living in the danger zone
About this lane you choose to drive in, is this the best that you can do
Baby Baby,Baby Baby , girl what are you gonna do, Speeding Twenty two

Bridge

Baby Baby,Baby Baby, finally on your own
Baby Baby,Baby Baby,Living in the danger zone
And in the midst of your confusion, will your girlhood dreams break through
Baby Baby,Baby Baby , girl what are you gonna do, Speeding Twenty two
