Bio
Last Days of Pompeii arose out of the ashes of the modern power pop act The Mark Watson Band in 2007. Continuing the power pop guitar hooks and harmonies of the Mark Watson Band and adding in a bigger sound with rocking guitar and sing along anthemic choruses for the upcoming Last Days of Pompeii album to be released in 2008. The new album is titled "From Here on Out" and is on Chicago independent label Big Blast Records.
Four childhood friends from the suburbs of Chicago form the members of LDOP and that friendship comes through in the tight hooks and great 3 part harmonies of the new music. The band features Mark Watson on lead guitar and vocals; Todd Jones on rhythm guitar and harmonies, Casey McDonough on bass and harmonies and "Diamond" Dave Wilk on the drums.
Influenced from listening to favorites like Jimmy Eat World and Green Day and Fountains of Wayne, the guys went into Mark Watson's basement studio in 2007 to start work on the new album. The results shine through in the hooky radio ready rock and they carry over to the tight live shows.
Legendary producer Beau Hill became a fan on a random internet search of new music and he will be mixing some tracks on the new album. The band will be playing Chicago and surrounding areas in 2008 in support of the new release.
